One-bid league unless Houston stumbles in Ft Worth.
That might be a
virtual reality boat, considering the fact that, since its inception, the AAC has never received less than two NCAA bids.
While the selection committees have kept some deserving AAC teams out of the field
(e.g., Temple in 2015, UH in 2016, Memphis in 2021), they appear to have made up for it by setting a lower limit of two AAC bids to the AAC in recognition of their stature as the #7th-ranked D1 conference:
--They gave (22-10) Cincinnati an at-large bid in 2015, ensuring that the AAC had 2 bids.
--They granted an at-large bid to (#70 NET) WSU last season.
Since they were willing to give an AAC team with a NET of #70 an at-large bid last season, they might be equally inclined to provide an at-large bid to (#59) SMU, (#60) Memphis, (#71) Wichita St., or (#72) Cincinnati this season.
Memphis and Wichita State may not be able to win 22+ games, but
SMU could win 22 or 23 games before the AAC tourney,
and Cincy could win 21 or 22.
