RE: CUSA Men’s Col. Bask - Saturday January 12
I’m interested to hear Guns’ take on this one. And no, I am not being an ass. I would like to hear his opinion of the game.

My son and I had tickets, but then I had to take my other two kids at the last minute so we couldn’t go. We watched from FB mirrored to my TV. When we went down by 12 I said, “Uh oh.” FLipped to the playoffs and then came back to the game and about shat myself that we had come back. Saw the last 5 min of the second half and wow.

FIrst of all, I can’t believe that we held the Tops to 69 pts.
Second, I can’t believe Kinsey stepped up so huge.
Third, I’m glad we didn’t melt down when we were down so far and everything appeared to not be going our way.
Fourth, the lack of adjustment of the WKU coach amazed me.

That being said, we have to go to Bowling Green. Yikes. We’d better be ready for a home team WKU that beat Wisconsin. Much respect for the Toppers program.

But it is nice to have a Q2 win.

Both schools are a joke and don’t deserve any consideration to be in future conferences.

Embarrassing

Yea I have no interest in being in a conference with either of those schools.

Why do you fans that harp on FIU and FAU's attendance (FB & BB) never say the same about Rice? The Rice vs Tech game (last week) looked like 1000 fans with a couple hundred Tech fans.

UNT 15-1 and 1500 to 2000 that were counted as 3200

USTA can they even get 2500 in that gym?

In my experience at FAU and FIU games vs Western....always decent crowds. One side almost full the other 1/2 full and 3/4 at the beginning of the game But then again Western brings a few hundred

UTSA. It's not difficult. USTA would be University of San Texas Antonio, or the United States Tennis Association. UT is University of Texas, and SA is San Antonio. I get that it's sometimes just a typo, but I can't remember the last time someone wrote MSTU.

Don't mean to single you out either. It's just that I see it so often on here, and while I usually let it go, it just gets annoying after a while. Btw, the Convo holds 1,000 standing room only. It's that bad. lol

RE: CUSA Men’s Col. Bask - Saturday January 12
This schedule couldn't have been any worse for Western....one of the youngest teams in college basketball and no upper class leadership. To play the first 3 games on the road with 2 games vs preseason top 2 or 3 teams and both games played in a almost packed house.

This young team has not found a leader or the experience to overcome all of that. Marshall and ODU both have Sr leadership on their team...huge difference in close games. As we seen Marshall is 3-0 all wins coming on basically last second shots. ODU is 2-2 with both wins on come from behind or last second shots.

I think all Western, Marshall and ODU fans know the outcome of the Western game is most likely different if played anywhere but at Marshall and at ODU....

large home court crowds can pull a team through on come from behind wins

If this Western team finds that go to player and a leader no matter what the record you can put them right up at the top of CUSA. Losing is disappointing but its a loss to a team picked at the top of CUSA on their home court. Same goes for the ODU loss.

Only a few plays is making the difference from 3-0 to 0-3 for Marshall and Western...sometimes you lose a game instead of the other team winning it. Taking nothing away from Marshall I feel like Western loss this game.

get to play another one soon

Yep. Really fine lines separating a good handful of schools right now. Name of the game is to get in that first tier and get a conference tournament bye.

Yea I have no interest in being in a conference with either of those schools.
I imagine not when one beat you and the other damn near did.

Since joining CUSA we are now 7-2 against FAU and 7-0 against FIU. That's an 87.5% win percentage.

Kudos to UTEP for pulling off this very impressive full-Court play in just 0.9 seconds after Rice’s Trey Murphy hit the game winning 3 pointer at the buzzer.

Perplexed that the officials allowed it, as only 0.5 seconds remained in the game before the throw-in.

That’s what home court is for- to help the home team push through to victory. I fully expect Western to beat us in BG. It’s a long season. We still haven’t found our chemistry and still aren’t shooting the ball as well as last year. Long season and each team still has room to improve.

As impressive as they are shooting the ball, they are one of the worst defensive teams I have seen in college basketball in my entire life. They legit don’t care about an entire end of the floor.

Held WKU to 69 for the game and 27 after half.

Neither team lit it up offensively, but WKU is averaging 67.5 ppg against Marshall the past two meetings. Marshall rebounded well enough to get the job done.

I thought both teams were sloppy but the game was played at a fairly high level. Neither team had their jumpers falling but they both scraped and fought.

Side note: WKU’s players could not have been more sportsmanlike. I gained all kinds of respect for them long before the final seconds. I had pretty well decided to post just that regardless of who won. They haven’t scratched the surface of what they can be. Right now they’re a collection of talent, not yet an all-around, cohesive team. They will take it to another level if they figure that out.

Could not have been more impressed with Bassey from that standpoint, either. Physical specimen who had a few very loud dunks and blocks, and I’m not sure he said a single word. Very businesslike. Enjoyed watching him play in person.

This is what I've been trying to say for a while.....out of the Sun Belt the only team worth looking at in terms of attendance is Louisiana.

You might want to look around at some other attendance figures. It's embarrassing everywhere.

No it's not. Marshall, WKU, and ODU are doing pretty good attendance wise right now.

Marshall had 7,687 last night for the WKU game.

Classy post. And I agree. We are a young team and still a work in progress (even though the clock is ticking on figuring it out this season). But we have a VERY high ceiling and we are not close to hitting it yet. Nobody and I mean NOBODY will want to play us in March.

I have to agree. I was very impressed with the sportsmanship from WKU players, coaches, and fans. Also impressed by the crowd you brought. Nothing spectacular but nice to see some visiting fans walking around the Cam for a change.

The refs also have the ability to review this and correct the error but did not. Life in CUSA
