So go independent, who the fook is holding you back?

The sad thing is the teams he wants to be in a conference with, clearly doesn't want to be in a conference with them, see ECU exiting when they came in 03-lmfao03-lmfao.

Reality is ODU is exactly where they belong. Should they leave, they can only go indie or FCS.
Everybody in this conference has their issues.

Let's examine for fun:

FIU and FAU: Sports fans in South Florida as the worst of anywhere in the country. This leads to poor attendance. Also, see problems associated with UNT, MT, and Charlotte.

UNT, MT, Charlotte: Located in large, competitive, sports-saturated markets. High-ceilings due to number of alumni. Perceived as up and coming, but don't have the cache for people to care unless putting up consistent winning (which doesn't happen often). Traditions not known by most people other than the people that went there (maybe more with Charlotte with their bb history....but not that many)

WKU, USM, LA Tech, Marshall Small markets, decent sports histories (WKU, USM, LA Tech, kind of Marshall). People know Brett Favre, Terry Bradshaw, Karl Malone. WKU has a fairly strong bb history (though not sure anyone outside of WKU/CUSA knows about it). Marshall has that tragedy/movie to lean on. Can't go wrong with pity.

UTEP Great fan support when they are good. They have support from real Mexicans (relative to UTSA). Also have the movie to lean on. Biggest problem is where do they recruit from? Mexico? They are located in no-man's land.

UTSA New to football. Great fans (although I sometimes question their knowledge of football by the statements they make, but they support their team well). They have the Chicano support. Decent sized market with little competition (in theory, but there are also 500 fbs schools in Texas)

UAB[b] Alabama.

[b]Rice[b] Pretty much the same problems as all the other big market schools, but with x10 less people giving an S. I respect and like having Rice in the conference because it's Rice. But I tend to think that's the only reason. You never hear of Rice trying to progress in anything athletics-related. It's just kind of like they've been here. And so they're here.

[b]ODU[b] Decent fans. Okay history. Seemingly high ceiling like others in the conference. But...have a long way to go. Outdated facilities (at least in FB). Decent sized market. In the end? Cool name and cool color scheme. Pretty sure that's the primary driving factor.

Hope nobody takes offense, but let's face it...It's true and we're all in this together. Love you all.
On your UTEP portion you are correct that fan support is great when they are good but both football and mbb fans have had their teeth kicked in for a few years in a row and it is showing at the gate. UTEP has even had very good support in mediocre seasons when there was at least some hope of having a respectable team on the field/court. I hope and fully expect that next season when all the transfers are eligible in mbb that expectations will be high and fan interest will be back. FB, that is a big question mark since 0-12 was followed by 1-11 in Dimels first year. If this coming FB season shows that the program is on the right track, 3 or more wins, UTEP fans will start thinking about attending again. No one likes a kick in the nads every time you drop into the Sun Bowl for a home game.

As for recruiting in an out of the way place like EP, it's very similar to other programs situated like that. Wyoming, New Mexico have that problem too and have some success now and then. I think UTEP just needs a solid coach that will work hard at recruiting. We did not have that with Kugler but hopefully Dimel will get the job done.

Marshall has real fans, not counting 15,000 empty seats into their 18,734 attendance figures every week for football. Same with basketball. Eilliams said it in the post game, that he looked up and saw all our fans, and told West how blessed they are to play here. Elmore said the same and talked about traveling to alot of other arenas that are nonwhere near the atmosphere that the Cam is. We also travel well as a fan base, and even during the mediocrity that Doc has bestowed upon our football program, we still travel and show up. Of course, also history thats been mentioned already. Marshall is the flagship program of cusa. That doesn't mean we will win it, there are other good programs here, but Marshall is the one most people would know outside of the conference, with Southern Miss right there as well. Aftee that, it falls off a cliff.

Humble too.

It's going to be funny when FAU brings them back to reality this Thursday.

You were saying, Captain Future? How you you like your double dose of crow?

How dare you call me a "you you" ! LOL, good win by Marshall though. Conference race will be tough this year. No telling who will win it. I just hope the Bulldogs can stay healthy enough to finish the year strong.

Yeah, fkn auto correct on my iPad. Eh, Tech always manages to be around at the end of the season. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
