RE: 2023 Big 12 Football Schedule... to be released "Mid December"
I hope the B12 makes UT & OU play UC, UCF, BYU and UH on the road so that fans in those cities get to experience them once.

I know OU played in Cincy before and I seem to remember them going to UCF. That said let's screw them over!

I imagine they won’t. They will try to give Texas and Oklahoma the least desirable home slate possible, which probably means a lot of the new schools.

I know you are likely right but my idea would be an ego hit especially for UT.

The conspiracy theorist in me says the longhorns are having second thoughts about giving up their longhorn network and have changed their mind about going to the SEC. In turn the conference is debating how to accommodate three pac12 school that will join in 2024.

Ok that’s Looney,

Seems like this has more to do with OUT trying to get out before the 2023 season starts so they don't play any of the new B12 members.

SEC commish already said “no way” that they join SEC in 2023 when his league issued their 2023 schedule back in late September

UCF hosted Texas before back in '07, actually opened the Bounce House for the first time and nearly beat the #6 Longhorns that day. Oklahoma traveling to UCF for Dillon Gabriel's return to the Bounce House would be quite the storyline and marketing though. With that said give us (UCF) Texas on the road (they bought out the last of our 2 for 1 deal we had with them in the 2010s), and Oklahoma at home in Orlando. Did someone say OU played at Cincy before? If so let them host UT and play OU on the road. ?‍♂️

Cincy played OU in Paul Brown stadium during the Butch Jones era. OU won but it was a close game. Cincy also played OU in Norman a couple of years before that and got mauled.

The pac12, with all their issue, have released a schedule. Where is the big12’s 2023 schedule. Baylor AD said, at the end of the month.

So it’s not ready now, but it will be in 4 days.

I know Cincy, UCF, & Houston fans don't want to hear this, but IF they get to host OU & Texas, it'll be in Paul Brown, Camping World, & NRG respectively. I'm sure you could get those games into a prime time slot because it'd be must-see TV. If you're OU & Texas, you want those bigger venues anticipating fan turnout for your team. That's what I would demand if I were them: "Fine- we'll play in Cincinnati but it has to be in Paul Brown stadium."

PBS is where they played, about 11-12 (?) years ago. iirc, i don't think it was sold out.

2010. Not sold out, but about 18,000 more than Nippert can hold:

With the hype going into 2023, I'm sure a rematch in Paul Brown would fill most of the seats. Make it an early season matchup at night. If I was local, I'd want to go!

It is a conference game. Quite frankly, they do not get to demand anything.

I wish that were the case. Texas bullies its way through everything. They have money to throw around; they'll find leverage. The nuclear option no one is talking about is perhaps they decide to go independent for a year. It wouldn't be easy, but I could see them buying out FCS matchups- especially those late season ones to play SEC teams. Yormark would probably prefer to keep Texas and OU in the league around as long as possible to boost TV ratings, so he's forced to negotiate.

They really have no power at this point. They are already leaving and are contracted to the current contract which runs for the next 2 years. If they choose to go independent, it will be impossible for them to create a full schedule at the last moment. It does not matter who they are, it is simply not possible. They would have to negotiate a separate year long media deal to televise their games if they were independent....... and guess who would get that money?? Big 12

Tell me, they are gonna implode their program for a year of impendence due to not wanting to play in certain conference stadiums........ yea, good luck with that..... and if it got dirty and went to mediation, they would lose far more money in the courts for petty antics like that.

Probably them leaving for the SEC in 2024 and it blew up the schedule they probably had going for 2023 and 2024.

It seems like Fox doesn't want to let Texas and OU out early.

From the recent CBS article:
Quote:For there to be any new agreement on an early exit, Fox would have to be compensated for the loss of Texas and Oklahoma from its existing deal. (ESPN would retain Texas and Oklahoma rights as part of its SEC deal.) CBS Sports reported last month that compensation could come in the form of the Longhorns and Sooners playing nonconference games in Big 12 stadiums after they join the SEC.

Such an agreement was called using "games as currency."

"They would have to play games in the [Big 12] footprint so Fox and ESPN can have value," an industry source told CBS Sports. "If ESPN and Fox are happy, [the Big 12] would be happy."

Source: https://www.cbssports.com/college-footba...expansion/

If we are trading 9 conference games for 9 OOC games between 2024-2030:
It creates a mess for future schedules. Texas and Oklahoma could probably do it because the SEC has 4 OOC games. However, most Big12 future schedules are set. Oklahoma State doesn't have any open slots till 2029.

Giving UT admin time to prepare for the **** storm coming from their fans when they see they have to play at TDECU.

Nuke option ( independent) for UT is unworkable. They have fiduciary obligations to the big12 and to media partners regarding home games.

At this point I don’t see how they avoid playing the four incoming schools.

Why? Baylor, Kansas and TCU’s stadiums aren’t much larger and I don’t seem to recall OUT telling those schools they need to play at a neutral site. In other conferences USC travels to Washington State (even smaller than these three), Clemson travels to Wake and Duke’s puny stadiums, Alabama goes to Vanderbilt, etc. I’ve actually seen Ohio State outnumber the fans at Northwestern and Indiana (also two smaller stadiums).

they might be more flexible now that mikey boy brown isn't controlling the bengals with an iron fist, but iirc, there were / are some issues with uc playing at pbs. uc and the bengals have different local sponsors, so you get into whose signage is showing / covered in the stadium, which sponsors get a rebate because their signage wasn't used - i think there were issues with concession and/or parking $$$ - it should be a simple process to move the game, if it happened, but it really isn't - nothing with the bengals is simple or easy
