Plus it's not just one year's salary number that motivates assistants to move up the ladder. Maybe Nunez wants to be a head coach some day? Coordinators at top P5s get hired away to be head coaches all the time! G5 assistants and coordinators? Not so much (especially ST coordinators).

Frankly, I'm okay with seeing some coaching turnover as I want to see us make some changes in recruiting and scheme that will help us break through in getting to a bowl win and MAC West win.

Frank, I agree with most of what you are saying but Nunez was an up and Comer and we paid him 90k. that's laughable. CC should have gone to EMU and fought for him to get more. this is a perfect example of an unwillingness to get to the top. we could have hung on for Maybe another yr or 2

He's from Oklahoma. He's going home. Cmon.

Agreed but don't you think if we would have paid him more he would have potentially stayed?

Kid from oklahoma given the opportunity to coach for the sooners? thats a dream.

I'm not arguing that. what I am saying is that if they saw Nunez was that good why did they not pay him more to at least make it a tougher choice. 90k is what I'm pissed about and you should too. TOO MANY GUYS ON THUS SITE THAT ARE OK WITH BEING MEDIOCRE
what are we doing? start raising expectations, Christ

Sorry, DP. I don't like the transfer portal. 03-hissyfit

Saw this one coming as I referenced before in a previous post.

It kinda sucks, because when Ryland got here we had a decent kicker in Fricano. Creighton, however, saw what he had in Chad and gave him the job. Gosh, Ryland "choked" on kicks in his first two years, I can remember him missing shorties against both NIU and WMU that lost the games. He did, however, grow here and honestly might be one of the best legs in the NCAA today.

Dan, I'm with Steve, I hate the portal! Nevertheless, in the case, it will most likely provide Chad Ryland with an opportunity unavailable to him previously.

I suppose Steve and I will just have to get used to such.

UM kicker is now in the portal. He's from IN.

The EMU kicker position is wide open and there are likely not a lot of D1 PK positions open. I'm sure a lot of potential transfers will be contacted.

What I see (3 KOs) plus what Cidbearit posted suggests that maybe we have a high potential K on our roster redshirt freshman, Gomez.

Played in Mexico and can get coached up in the American game of futbol.

Lot of soccer players have more natural kicking ability than American football players.

Not sure if this was reported before...

Xavier Smith is in the portal. Another WR that could not break the 2-deep.

We're REALLY deep at WR:
Drummond - Sr
Beydoun - Sr
Dennis Smith - Sr
I'Shawn Stewart - Sr
Kaiden Keefe - So
JB Mithcell III - So
Knue - Jr
Donivan Wright - Sr
Zack Walling - So
Dylan Summers - Jr
Westmoreland - So
El-Zayat - Sr

I mean i'm sure we'll add at least one freshman WR but thats a lot of dudes.

Thanks for letting us know DP. Great match. Close to home, a program that he can play for and a good school for an MBA degree. Good kid, he made a great decision.

I'm excited for him as for his academic choice.

As I assume everyone knows, WSU's school of business is next to Little Caesars Arena in the heart of the sports and entertainment area.

Being MBA + intercollegiate athletics maybe something opens for him in sports administration.

May open up other opportunities with all kind of companies in the downtown area.

This might be one of those situations, like Howard U. in D.C., where the ACADEMIC and PROFESSIONAL opportunities are the big selling point not making a decision based on athletics AS THE PRIMARY CRITERION.

Wayne State is a neat area. I love hanging downtown and hes going to be in an elite Div II conference. Good for him and good for them.
