With Tarleton's desire to go FBS, I think they will go to C-USA if the opportunity arises rather than waiting and hoping that the WAC goes FBS in the future. I do not think the UTAH schools have the desire or potential for FBS and the other Texas schools seem to want FCS more. The eastern teams in C=USA can go to the MAC or independent and C-USA can build a true Middle America type conference. IF Tarleton along with SHSU and McNeese join think about this footprint.

Lose Directional hillibillly Community Colleges of MTSU & WKU and add in the 4 Dakotas along with Montana and Idaho. A beautiful 12 team N-S league with TV Appeal.
Wow...I came over here to introduce myself and see what the Tarleton Texans were like and I read this. It's a sports message board and smack is expected but I'm not sure the bolded part above is the approach I'd take to introduce myself to potential new conference mates if I were interested in moving to their conference. First impressions are everything.
Regardless, no....WKU is not a community college. Yes, we have the same minimum requirements for admittance that Tarleton does (ACT minimum is the same). Our admittance rate is higher because in Kentucky, if a Kentucky resident meets the minimum requirements for a public university, they are accepted. Obviously, WKU isn't in a major metro area so we don't get the volume of applicants you may, given your location near the Dallas/Ft Worth metro. WKU has several national ranked academic programs.....Photo Jounalism, Forensics, Business, etc. OK...I'm not going to go down the long list of academic accolades and prestigious accomplishments but I did feel the need to defend my school.
Also, hillbillies is a misnomer...or at least it doesn't completley apply to WKU. Bowling Green, Kentucky is a generally flat topographic area with some gently rolling hills. In fact, the city of Bowling Green has one big hill and that's where the University is located. It's a beautiful campus that's visible from great distance because the hill rises above the horizon. We're called the Hilltoppers because the residents of the city back in the early 1900's referred to the students who lived on the hilltop as Hilltoppers. The stereotype of hillbillies generally refers to people in the Appalachian area of eastern Kentucky. Bowling Green isn't in Appalachia.
There's your history and geography lesson for the day...
Now, as far as Tarleton's interest in CUSA, I did some research earlier today because I'd never heard of your university before it was mentioned yesterday in media releases. I was impressed with your history of athletic success at the D2 level, your stadium expansion and what appears to be a strong desire to move up and succeed. Ya'll may be a great candidate. Of course, I'm just an anonymous message board poster and don't make those decisions.
WKU has a long history of success in basketball and football and are always eager to compete with like minded schools. Hopefully ya'll are the same.
