No, he isn't. He might be fed info that is false on purpose, but Smoak is on the phone with a member of the Big 12 expansion committee weekly and he's highly respected in the region.

Money will do the talking here. The TV partners will tll them what number they will get, and if you add partners, what the new number will be. If that new number is lower that the per team take of a more stable 12 team big 12, then no one will get added. It does seem, though, that the Big 12 is taking a page out of Aresco's big market strategy.

B12 is not adding anyone till they see what the PAC12 new media rights deal is. Let's just say for giggle's what Smoak is getting from his souces about the B12 is being contacted in the back channels by the 4 schools in the PAC12 and for some reason there not happy with the new media deal and they end up comIng to the B12 there will be no need to add any school outside the P5 framework in the B12. I guess will see next year what happen. Side note I think there is psychological games being played here by the B12 with the PAC personally. There trying to keep the PAC off balance and saying you stay away from our members or will come afters yours.

I enjoy watching Sic'em simply because its a train wreck. They have no clue what's going on. They are a reaction show. They read the news and you get that pure Baylor ignorant reaction. They were forced to change their tune on adding AAC teams because that's the way the situation evolved.

This is the first time I have seen them attempt to break news on this Big12 expansion and they want you to believe Southern Miss had a legit shot. To me it wreaks of a mistake and they ran with it. Less than 24 hours they had to release a retraction. What an epic failure! 100% it was the USM vs SMU spelling mistake and they ran with it because they only have 1 shaky source. They were already shaky on legitimacy and they just shot themselves in the foot.

Just stick to your lane and react to other people breaking the news. I come to Sic'em for the ignorance. Just be the Paul Finebaum of the Big12. Take phone calls and text line reactions and that's the show.

Don't write Tulane off. They have a lot going for them:

Academics
Improving football program
On campus stadium
In N'Awlins

just to name a few.

I actually think the Pac 12 vulnerability isn't overplayed.
I think USC is about to set off a chain reaction in UT fashion, and the Big 12 will see who is available once those dominoes fall.

I guess we will see. The Pac 12 is certainly very weak on the field.
