I've seen Appy play twice: First, when they lost to GA Southern at home (and I have a hard time believing Miami would lose to GS at home), and secondly against UAB. Frankly I thought UAB stayed in that game much longer than they should have. Appy couldn't really put 'em away until late. I'm just not impressed with Appy like some of you people seem to be.
The people that matter are. Let’s see how many people are impressed with LA Tech when the polls come out. Should I go ahead and spoil the results?
UNC > Miami
UAB > LA Tech
Sorry.
Boy, you really need our validation, don't you! LOL!
You just don't seem to understand.....I just don't care about you and your school. I don't hate 'em, I'm just not sold on 'em. I can't explain why the poll people voted your school into the Top 25 DESPITE one of the ugliest late season home losses I've ever seen. Furthermore, factor in that you guys play in the worst conference in America, and the poll vote is simply inexplicable.
Lastly, your Bowl game was...meh....I believe you guys trailed for most of the game. You just didn't perform like a Top 25 team.
I agree that somebody in the poll voting likes ya, but whatever you've got....it just don't show.
What? App doesn't play in CUSA ... granted we beat the CUSA teams we play.
C-USA would have been a step-up
Not even close, y'all are very bad and have been passed as a conference.

Yeah right. We have as many bowl games as you do conference members. We're beating the U in the Independence Bowl while your fake Louisiana plays the fake Miami in the dollar tree bowl. Perception is reality. And the reality is you're on the bottom.

Not sure what 10 year old perception you are looking at. But all you're going on is bowl matchups??? These sites have a different perception. Take a look:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2813...son#slide3
https://www.cbssports.com/college-footba...-sputters/
I would like to read a recent article that argues CUSA is better than SunBelt, if you care to look for 1. Reality being reality, Sun Belt has passed CUSA and it'll be confirmed next year when bowl realignment is completed.

I'd say FAU accounted for itself rather well at Ohio State AND got $1.6M for it. Did your team play a top 10 team this year? Oh, wait, it didn't.

Are we now bragging about getting dominated by top ten teams?
Congrats!
We all sign up to play one or two P5s each year. App however enjoys being competitive in ours.

I posted earlier I didn't like all this tit-for-tat with App (not "Appy") State fans, but heck! it brings some added interest to the board, and, who knows, maybe we'll tangle with the Mountaineers on the field some day. It's almost like we have a rivalry with a school we have never played!
Anything that stirs the pot and generates some interest has to be a good thing, right?
In the meantime, we poor ole deprived Tech fans will just have to endure a 10-3 season and being winners of 6 straight bowl games. It's tough, but we can handle the disappointment...

It would be nice to find a Sunbelt FB team that can stay on field with us too - they keep talking about how great they are but when we have played against the Belt we haven't had much trouble

RE: Bowls Games Remaining - Tech, WKU and USM
It doesn't bother me to think the Belch was a better conference than CUSA in 2019. I think, with the bowls, they won the season series between the conferences 3-2. Someone can verify that...thanks.
I also think App State is as good as any CUSA team this year. They are certainly no worse than 2nd, behind only FAU, if teams were ranked from both. That's not to say they couldn't beat FAU on any given day, just like I know Tech could beat App State this year...especially if we played them in a bowl. But, just because Team A beats Team B doesn't make them the better team. Just that they were better that day.
CUSA has too many dregs at the bottom of the league, and that drags down the whole conference. And even our better teams are really only mediocre in the big scheme of things.
So, okay, maybe the Belch is better than CUSA in 2019. That hasn't been the case in the past, and soon we'll be into recruiting/spring training, and looking forward to 2020, and likely CUSA will be back on top again.
For now, I just hope we stay above The MAC for 2019!

I think Rice is poised for a marked improvement in 2020. They will leave the list of the dregs.

I hope you are right. I am a little more hopeful about Bloomgren than I originally was.
I think an improved Rice was be a plus for the league, as we have the history of being there with the big boys, albeit long ago. I noticed they played a clip of the 1954 bench tackle during the Cotton Bowl yesterday, with the score of Rice 28, Alabama 6 very prominent. Maybe we can get back into the consciousness of the football world with some good years. Easier to get back than to break in for the first time, I think.

The difference between the top teams is probably one score or less. I’d love to play 2019 FAU or 2018 UAB would have been good games. Looking forward to renewing the Marshall series soon as well.
However the narrative of CUSA has been on top on the SBC is not trending that way. The SBC has been the higher ranked conference in 2016, 2018, and now 2019. CFB payouts will confirm this.

Rice was on a roll at the end of the year. They didn't have a bad year, it just ended too soon! If they carry that over they'll be fine in 2020.

Rice is already moving up. We were competitive in 11 of our 12 games, including a game against top 10 Baylor.
Current active winning streaks (CUSA)
1. FAU 7
T2. Rice 3
T2. WKU 3
4. LaTech 2
