Honestly, I think at USF winning is not a priority, and they are wringing their hands trying to figure out how they can justify keeping CCS. Or, they are desperately looking for a cheap replacement. Which would likely keep us losing... Reality of $$$$.

I will give USF a contribution of the same size I give UCF if you hire Matt Grothe to be your head coach like he's agitating for on Twitter.

Matt doesnt want to be HC... he wants a shot at being the QB coach.... which honestly I think he would do a great job. If a certain candidate does indeed get hired, I think Grothe will too. They are close and respect each other.

If USF was smart they would go after Peterson who was just let go from Washington. Not many really good options this year with so many openings. I predict Taggart or Leavitt makes a return.

Petersen wasn't let go at Washington. He retired, is staying on in an administrative capacity, and he picked his successor.

That's almost as good. There's no way the Bus Driver + the Beer Truck Driver will have any good QB play. There's zip chance that Grothe is a good QB coach.

Ive seen him in action and hes already coached some high school... hes actually a really good coach. He understands the position and what it takes... I mean he will forever be the All Time Yardage record holder of the Big East. A lot of good QBs went through that conference and he has the record and did it with barely 3 years starting.
Weird one we are hearing... the Ole Ball coach reached out to USF. He is still interested in coaching. I doubt we go that direction but its interesting since he would also bring his Son.
I personally think our coach will be Scott... which Scott, I am unsure.

No idea if Grothe is a good or bad QB coach. But I know lots of athletes aren't good coaches because they don't understand what it's like to not have the skills that they have. They often just used their superior skills to do so. It would be one thing for Grothe to say "just keep the play alive long enough for coverage to break down and find your open receiver," but it's another to actually be able to TEACH somebody how to do that.
I think that's why many of the best coaches were only so-so athletes.

USFFan
This is my point. I don't think Grothe was an elite QB in terms of understanding the position and the science of it. He was an elite playmaker that excelled with his instincts and ability to extend plays. I very much doubt that he would be able to teach the science of being a QB or work well with the mechanics of a passer.

Too many bars and Strip clubs in Tampa, he would have Candy as OC and Trixie as DC.

They could turn the pirate ship into a main stage to raise some extra dollars
