AAC basketball news thread
I’m just not sure TCU will be as good as last year. They lose leading rebounder, and top 2 scorers.
Tho I really like jaylen Fischer, they will need a lot of guys to step up

its not great.
It is not murderous row, but it is not horrible either. TCU and Penn St should be good and Georgetown should bring RPI help since they are in the BE. Lipscomb made the NCAA Tourney last year and will be favored to enter again next March.
Penn state will not be good, and Lipscomb didn't even win the ASun regular season. This is trash start to finish.
Lipscomb’s RPI was 105 last season and they should be better next season. Last season, Penn St’s earned a #47 RPI rating. They may drop off, but Big Ten membership alone should raise their profile.
I know it is not a great or even good schedule, but I think the poorness of the schedule has been exaggerated. Of course, the only opinion that matters are those held by SMU fans.
Hasnt helped most year over the last 2 decades.

The redesign of the Reynolds Center court is coming along nicely! The crew is currently adding the @American_Conf logos. Looking forward to seeing the finished product next week!

Save a couple dollars on his salary and the team gets new hardwood. (For the second time in Haith's tenure btw)

like i noted in to OP...the schedule wasnt the worst thing in the world....
it is as bad as we think it is for a team hoping to make the tournament....there are no top 25 in the aac next season, there are no top 25 on their schedule.... they could sweep that and only come out with 1 q1 win
and this is the funny thing about that schedule, you are right, plenty of them might not be good but they arent push over...smu isnt projected to be dominant...they could end up losing some of them, with a schedule with little margin for error.
this would have been a decent schedule for usf and ecu..not smu

Jon Rothstein at UConn today
@JonRothstein
7m7 minutes ago
Early prediction on UConn's starting five: Alterique Gilbert, Jalen Adams, Christian Vital, Tyler Polley, Josh Carlton.
@JonRothstein
16m16 minutes ago
UConn's Altierique Gilbert (shoulder) will resume full contact activity in late August, per Dan Hurley.
@JonRothstein
11m11 minutes ago
Blown away with how well Alterique Gilbert shoots the ball in non-contact drills. Much more than just a slasher and a driver. Excellent form and mechanics.
@JonRothstein
16m16 minutes ago
The most obvious thing at UConn practice? Huskies lack a true on court leader. Who points the way for this team? TBD.
@JonRothstein
14m14 minutes ago
Josh Carlton looks the part of a breakout sophomore, but the motor needs to stay turned on all the time. Has to be at least 8 and 8 guy for UConn in 18-19.
@JonRothstein
14m14 minutes ago
Would expect Dan Hurley to regularly use three and sometimes four guard lineups. Huskies have no real proven commodities aside from Jalen Adams
@JonRothstein
12m12 minutes ago
The wildcard position for UConn is PF. Huskies can go small with Sidney Wilson, skilled with Tyler Polley, or big with Kassoum Yakwe.
@JonRothstein

Brendan Adams gives UConn a big and sturdy presence on the wing that it hasn't had recently. Think a "Denham Brown" type build at 6-4.

Every single common sense factor: the coaching staff doesn't think they are that good but fighting against the expectation and standard set by brown
He was frantically offering players in May, no one who is satisfied with their roster is frantically offering numerous players in may
No one who thinks they are making the tourney makes this kind of schedule...the ONLY good game is a rivalry game that is played every year .. meaning they didn't actively find any good games in the quad 1 range
According to ponystark (and other smu fans) smu is bringing in numerous NBA Calibur/All-league type players (according to the staff who told them) and been hyping up their next seasons team .. and the smu administration wrote an apology letter for the bad season and said it would be much better next season
I watched 1 of the major impact new players in Italy last week, and tho not bad, no where close to the hype given
My opinion- there is an extremely high standard at smu, that the fans and administration at smu demand...smu likely won't be at that standard next season ....the staff knows it and telling the fans and administration what they want to hear... And put a schedule together to window dress it... "We got 20 wins" "the committee left us out, despite our guady record. Not our fault"
But that's my opinion, not saying it's a fact or anything
They had 3 good seasons after missing the tourney for 20+ years and now they have an "extremely high standard" lol
Yes, we don’t want to be like Tulsa
Successful? Ok.
lol seriously? Are you implying Tulsa has been successful? In the past five years SMU has been ranked 39 weeks in the AP top 25. Tulsa? History wise SMU has won 14 major conference titles (SWC) and recently two AAC titles. Tulsa major conference titles - zero. AAC titles - zero.

While most recently Tulsa has a firm hold on milquetoast mediocrity, and unfortunately look to stay there with Haith, you’d be very hard-pressed to find a CBB fan who would put SMU above TU in the CBB pecking order.

I'm interested in what center court and the baselines will look like with text... I'm pretty sure they'll put some down.

Tulsa had radar pic hurricane Katrina over Oklahoma on there at one time right?
Maybe some Nolan stripes on the baseline?
