Not so quick. Bama hasn't played one non-conference game on the road since 2006. Must be nice, eh? Not to mention, Fresno State and Colorado State gave them hell this year, too.

BAMA beat them by an average of 41-17. Some Hell...

Who cares? Where are the rules that say that they have to? If they can get away with it, the more power to them! It's not their fault that the rules are not the same about scheduling from conference to conference. I'm surprised everyone else hasn't learned from them and copied them. The goal is to win as many games as you can and they do that.

They beat 13 teams with losing their bye week and having to deal with the hurricane. No to mention they had to beat the same top 25 team twice. Yes overall the SEC schedule it going to be harder but beating horrible teams like Tenn or FSU is supposed to carry a ton more weight than beating slightly lower ranked horrible teams?
May happen once a decade with just four teams but UCF got screwed intentionally and the CFP went out of its way to ensure they had no shot to make it in.
How would you have felt about UCF in the final four before the win over Auburn? It really is perfect that they got to beat the one team that's beaten both of the championship game participants, but that's a pretty big data point that wasn't there at the time of the final rankings.
Forget the morass of "data points" and SOS smoke screens. Those are just BS and thier reliance on indicators changes weekly. The reality is there are only 12 data points per team per season (not to mention the better G5 and P5 teams rarely play). The truth is---there are never going to be enough meaningful G5 vs P5 data points to be statistically significant anyway.
Just look at the base committee thought process when looking at a team that is undefeated and has a limited number of "data points" against ranked teams (remember---not NO DATA points---just LIMITED data points against ranked teams).
I think that its telling that the base assumption by the committee is an undefeated G5 team with a P5 win and 3 top 25 wins is not top 10 worthy. They say they need more data. Without the data, the assumption is the G5 is not worthy until PROVEN otherwise. However, the committee's base assumption is that P5 teams that LOSE to top 25 teams ARE top 10 worthy. Wait, what? Im at a loss as to describe what that kind of logic could even be based on.
Its fairly dust and baked in bias that puts a 3 loss Miss St in front of a undefeated UCF with 2 Top 25 wins.
Think about this for a moment. UCF was #12 in the final CFP rankings after winning thier 3rd game over a ranked top 25 team. Hot on their heels at #13, was a 4-loss Stanford. An undefeated 12-0 G5 was almost passed by a 4 loss P5 team. In 2016--a 4 loss Auburn actually DID pass an undefeated WMU. The committee is a joke.

So you really don't think SOS matters?
So, 12-0 in the MAC is better than 10-2 in the SEC for instance?

There is actually no way to really know. Since they were never beaten---do we actually really even know if there is a team that can beat them? Nope--we actually dont know what their ceiling is because they have never been beaten. Now--do I believe that SOS is a factor in judging teams? Of course. But its not E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-H-I-N-G. Right now--if you dont have a P5 schedule you're automatically eliminated by the committee. That's no more correct than saying SOS doesnt matter at all.
That said--what exactly does losing to a good team prove? Navy lost to Notre Dame by 7 points. So--using committee logic--wouldn't Navy now have to be considered a "good" team and shouldn't the UCF win over Navy be a "quality" win. But the committee says just the opposite. The UCF win over Navy just another victory against another worthless AAC/G5 team--so its irrelevant. The committee logic is flawed, flows only one way, and shows a core belief that the G5 dont belong in the top ten (let alone the actual playoff) except under only the most extreme and unusual circumstances.
So, the committee view is the best of the G5 is going to almost NEVER be top 10 worthy because of their "SOS". Yet---in the real world outside of the committee room---the access bowl has shown--that much more often than not----the very best of the G5 is actually better than the typical top 10 P5. Thus, the committee's basic frame of reference on the top G5 teams is actually fatally flawed and apparently based on little more than P5 bias. Thus, either automatically dismissing G5 teams based on SOS is wrong or the method used to judge G5 SOS is flawed (or both--which is what I actually think...with a bit of P5 bias sprinkled in for good measure).

Didn’t watch it, don’t care. They’re not the real national champions. It’s not sanctioned by the NCAA and they didn’t even win their division of their conference much less their conference. Hope you guys enjoyed the ESPN money-grab invitational.

Loved it! Would have preferred UGA to have won though. Either way, Bama earned their title as the best team in the country, and national champion despite any delusional thoughts out there.

Did they play and beat the only undefeated team in the nation?
Oh, no? OK then.
