This sponsor may well be the most solid of any with deep pockets. The curious will likely turn to the bowl just to see how Dollar General pulls it off. My bet is they do a jam up job with more attention to presentation than most. Surely from a community involvement and support of worthy causes we'll see more than most. Should be top notch. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product. I can guarantee you that rather than stop at the convenient store for game day drinks and ice or whatever I'll be stopping by the DG from now on.

Now the initial jokes are put aside, my family does shop at Dollar General now and then. As others have stated, DG is a big stable company that has good earnings and pays a dividend. They are going to be a strong corporate sponsor and probably will help out with maintaining and possibly increasing the payout.

Remind me, is this a SB vs MAC bowl? Kinda like a MAC champ vs SB champ or is that no longer the case.

Oversimplified, it features one of the top SBC teams vs one of the top MAC teams each year.

This is still not as bad as the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Not even close.

Hey, to the best of my knowledge the AAC still has no sponsor for the Miami Beach Bowl. My feeling is---if you get someone willing to throw money at you for naming rights---grab it and laugh all the way to the bank.

I would be nice for Dollar General to be able to troll the arrogant ESPN types on social media by making this one of the highest payout bowls...You hear me Dollar General?
Right now it is 23rd.

What, you mean payout money that the schools never actually see?

All that does is put an even bigger emphasis on schools selling tickets to a football game the day before Christmas.

Yea, that.
It sucks that the NCAA didn't allow the Mobile Bowl to keep its late slot. Was easier and cheaper for fans to travel to.

The NCAA has nothing to do with the slot. It is the bowl owner and the TV network that decides the day and time.

Really, its just the TV Network that chooses the slot, the bowl could disagree, but that might cost them the TV they want.

Fix it for you - but your point still stands! 04-cheers
