Perhaps I'm naive but I don't see a problem with it. Could actually mean increased exposure. Like you said, they are just about everywhere (in the southeast at least) and could mean added exposure if they advertise the bowl in their ads and stores.

They are a discount store but are having a lot of success.

Dollar General is a heck of a company. They are one of the fastest expanding companies. It takes big bucks to sponsor a top tier NASCAR team these days. So the company makes sense. With that being said... Trojan & Preparation-H are pretty successful brands too....

Just because you used Grumpy's services to get out of that recent run in with the law doesn't make them a good bowl sponsor.

I'd have no problem hanging one up, seeing that it would end a 5-year bowl drought for the Trojans.

So was there some kind of bidding process involved here that GoDaddy lost or did Mobile have to go out and find another sponsor after GoDaddy bailed?

My impression is that GoDaddy might be hurting. They stopped sponsoring Danica Patrick, pulled out of this bowl, and didn't even have a Super Bowl commercial this year for the first time since... ?

It still seems odd to me that they would make this announcement at the Coke plant.

I don't understand the opposition to the new sponsor. If they fund it, I thank them!
