Amen to that, especially with the no re-entry rule.

Yeah. I've never exited and re-entered before, "funny" that now that I maybe could use it the option is gone. Ah well.

I'll be bringing our new little one to the first Tribe game, and had to break the news to my wife that she can't just dip into the Sadler Center anymore. Hopefully the family changing rooms are nice!

Sounds like we have a whole crew of future message board posters 03-wink.

Yeah, the logistics would have been much easier. We were joking that we should try to wrangle our way to get Ito the club level for feedings 03-wink

Congrats on the new family addition!

Thanks! Tribe Athletics are gong to be a bit challenging this fall, but it's exciting!

It's easy...just start them out early. Little Ribe #1 was born August 31 and made it to most home games that year and the many years to follow. And then she ended up a Tribester herself.

Congrats!!

That's been my plan so far. This is the first year I'll have to buy him a ticket for basketball, though.

My plan as well, but 7:00 kicks are just not practical for a 3 month old unfortunately.

As the father of a 3 month old who starts to lose her mind around 8:30 I feel your pain. Though I will say sporting events with a little one are doable. We took ours to a Nats game in July and she did alright. Wife disappeared with the baby for about an hour or so to feed her- they have a really nice nursing lounge there. Plus the baby was worn out and slept until 8 AM the next day without waking up.

Yup. Totally plan on giving him a run at the 3:30 games and afternoon basketball games. But yeah, bed time is 8:00. We can stretch that some, but not for a late football game.

Nursing situation at Zable isn't great, but such is life.

We took him to the open house and it was very cool to picture him growing up in the fancy new Zable.

RE: Zable Stadium Renovation
One of the new features of Zable is the main ticket booth and the will call pick up is now in the Southeastern corner which is near the infirmary, and is now called gate 1.

Riding by Zable, there is sprucing up going on in out of the Stadium and when all done it is really going to look beyond belief. There have planted grass, put up banners hanging in the Arcade and on the west side concourse celebrating seasons and players, and new lighting inside the Stadium do no more rental lights behind the end zone bleachers.
The old ball yard is going to be pretty nice,I do believe.,

My daughter turns 22 in November. We took her to her first Tribe basketball game when she was about three weeks old, all 5 pounds of her (She was 5 weeks premature). Our seats are five rows behind the visitors bench and now that I think about it some of her initial impressions of Dad may have been formed by the way that I act at ball games. In spite of it she still turned out great!!

The stadium was lit up last night when we drove past it, including all the new interior and exterior lighting. It was stunning...like a jewel-box.

Outstanding work on Zable. I was impressed with every aspect. I like sitting close to the field, but I walked the stands in the second half a little and the view from the second and third floors is excellent. If that's your preference, we're certainly capable of providing it. It's also kind of neat that the new grandstand is (maybe?) the tallest building in Williamsburg. It's at least the tallest anywhere around campus. Going up to the top floor grants a view of the area that few stadiums can provide due to the unique surroundings.

Kudos to everyone for the great staffing at the New Zable. Lots of folks to show you to your seats and help in any way. Great idea to have people manning the elevators to keep them humming smoothly. Very good signage. Much improved food and, of course, modern and amply sized bathrooms.

Nice touch having the radio game broadcast piped into the restrooms.

Zable Stadium Renovation
Very impressed with everything. What a different experience it was. I sat in the new upper deck and the view was fantastic of the whole field. Obviously the new addition looks great, but there were so many small things that were done right as part of this. Having large HD TVs at the concession stands, audio in the bathroom, wide open and well lit concourses (this will be key when there's a weather delay and people can now wait there), the bleachers have a slight curve to them that makes them a little more comfortable than just flat ones, and of course fireworks. Shooting green and gold fireworks off with each touchdown is great and really improves the atmosphere. Is this a permanent addition? I hope it is, and was not just something for the opening. The food was much improved, and the sound system was loud and very clear. Loved to see a full student section, and I can only imagine what the feeling will be like for homecoming or the Richmond game. Hats off to everyone involved with this renovation. You all knocked it out of the park.

I was lucky enough to be able to sit in one of the new suites and it was very well done. The sight lines are great , big screen TVs provide better replays than the scoreboard does. The food and beverage service and quality were off the charts . Only small complaint was when Coach Daly was being honored on the field and scoreboard the TVs in the booth were not synced with what was going on ...
There were smiles and welcomes everywhere and when I left I was thanked for attending...

RE: Zable Stadium Renovation
I agree that almost everything done was well done. I might have renovated Zable in different ways, but that's just a judgment call.

Only disappointments concerned the upper deck. Mrs. Ribe and I got 2 seats on the first row of the upper deck and 2 down in section 104 (?). Our familiar seats down low were much better. In the upper deck, neither of us was tall enough to see over the railing. (Maybe we can get a sign with the Griffin holding his hand out and saying, "You must be this tall to sit in Row AA.") Also, those upper-deck seats are a good bit further from the field than I had imagined--I guess because the overhang is pretty short.

Mainly, though, it seems really nice, and I found myself wondering what the basketball program could do with an investment like the football program has experienced in the last dozen years.

Got Ribe!

RE: Zable Stadium Renovation
I was absolutely blown away by new Zable. I started out in the upper deck and it was fantastic (vice the NSU fans sitting behind me). The sight lines were great but I could still read the players names from all the way up there. Moving down to the 100 section was even better. The bleacher backs are a great upgrade. The whole section feels brand new. I loved the concessions. I loved the concourses (I still want to go through and find out who's on all the banners. I still haven't found Creekmur, Cloud, or Clemons). I loved the concessions. I wish I had gone to the bathroom now too!

Jack Cloud is the first banner you see when you come through the new entrance from the white parking lot.

Adding the banners was a wonderful idea, pays homage to the past and the long history of Cary/Zable Field,
and adds to the overall positive feeling at New Zable.
