Just FYI, unfortunately, it wasn't the championship game, it was the semi-final.

And what do I think (I know you didn't ask, but I'm answering anyway)? It was a calculated risk that I wouldn't have taken.

~1:30 left in the game. Ball on our own 30. We had at least two (I wanna say all three though) timeouts. They had none. True, our QB had thrown a few INT's in the game already. But, at the same time, we had run all over them (somewhere close to 230 yards, if memory serves), so I'd have at least run the ball once or twice to see what we'd get.

In the end, I think he tainted his time with us, because well... that's the moment that sticks out in my mind the most. I still remember watching the game on ESPN (or ESPN2) and seeing our own Punter going "What the Fraggle Rock?"

But in the grand scheme, that season helped get us where we are today. So I can't hate on the guy too much.
Please excuse my ignorance . . . AND I know that I'm going to hate myself for asking, BUT what exactly is all this animosity towards my beloved Bobcats form North Tx about? It doesn't matter the topic, the thread, if TX St has come up in the conversation .. someone from N. TX has had something Negative to say about us, and I just don't get it . . .03-banghead

And I will ask the same exact question to you. A few of your posters found every topic they could pertaining to UNT so they could put in their two cents. You're not going to be able to do that without us defending ourselves, simple as that.

I see, so it's simply a case of tit for tat . .. Thought I was missing something deeper/darker, a Hatfields/McCoys kind of thing . . . My 2 cents . . . I have nothing against N. Tx & actually wish they'd remained in the Belt . . a nice in-state rivalry could have developed there . . barring that .. would love a regular OOC w/ya'll for the same reason. I think both schools are more alike than different. Best of luck in cusa . .

HEY! You two are ruining my "brilliant" recap of the game that hurt my heart the most with "your school sucks" and "no YOUR school sucks".

Someone said something bad about NT. So someone from NT said something bad about my beloved bobcats. Who cares? They are going to be in a different conference than us and more than likely we won't play each other often in the next 10-20 years anyway.

My sentiments exactly, I was nothing but respectful from the beginning it was your posters who came here to bash us. Also, someone linked to a topic on bobcatfans from our home forum a few weeks back and there was some guy just going absolutely nuts with "North Texas State" novel length posts while the rest of you agreed with his skewed vengeful viewpoint(BTW We all know who he is, the guy is a phony) I happen to know a couple guys who are enrolled and happy about the program moving to FBS. They also were real ******** when I last talked to them about UNT getting an invite "over" TX STATE. I get having pride in your school, but a sense of entitlement shouldn't go along with it. Even if UTSA is deplorable in everything but giving away buckets of chicken they were the school that got in "over" TX STATE. UNT was going to be there regardless. There should be no animosity towards North Texas, we haven't played each other in ages, nor been on each others forums, yet when the decision came down every other post was North Texas State this or that. UTSA is the school you should be angry with, not us.

We now have a home/away open spot for 2014/2015 and I would love for it to be TX STATE(There, I'll try to get off on the right foot this time) the first game at Apogee stadium then the second in your newly expanded stadium. Clearly there's no shortage of history or love loss between us, and it could develop in to a rivalry. I would be in favor if you guys have an opening those years.

See, I knew I was gonna hate asking the question . . . NOT trying to ruin your "brilliant" recap of one of the WORST sports moments in Bobcat History . . . just trying to find out if there was some deep seeded reason (that I wasn't aware of) for the "general" animosity I was catching from our neighbors to the north . . . please continue with the trip down memory lane . . . a little more salt in the wound, if you please.
Thank you, Sir . .. may I have another ?. . .

Mean - Thanks for the "frank" reply . . Honestly, I'm not angry/upset with anyone re: way conference decisions worked out. Just MY view: cusa's loss (in not picking us up) is the Belt's gain. As to your comment about a "sense of entitlement" . . I'm not sure where you're picking that up from .. . again Just MY opinion - we're like a lot of FCS Programs presently moving UP . . we haven't done anything at the FBS level, and will have to prove that we belong, to that end, I've no doubt that we'll accomplish that. Thanks for the insight . . good luck in cusa & who knows, the way this crazy system is working these days, we could all end up together in some other conference down the road . . .

I have always wished the Non AQ programs would align based on geography, and a TX/LA/OK/ARK league where you would never be unable to drive to a game would dominate. What you're suggesting may very well happen in time, who really knows.

RE: Texas State @ Florida State in 2015
Some of our programs, actually all of them, that there will be sufficient revenue coming from football to keep their entire athletic program afloat. Football schedules are made years in advance. I think it would be financially irresponsible if I were Texas State, USA, or any team in the Belt not to schedule one body bag game each year. I find it equally irresponsible to schedule three of them.

Check out Southern Miss's financial mess coming from a very successful year, where the've got a seven figure hole to dig out of. USM has a 33,000 seat stadium which they do a good job of filling and won CUSA last year. This isn't bumbling UAB. Where can USM, with a relatively small budget for its conference, make up the shortfall? They'll have to cut hard because, since football schedules are made years in advance, there arent any more bodybag games because others have taken them.

I shudder to think how much red ink UTSA-Bucket of Chicken will incur if they lose big and everyone loses their appetite for losing and KFC (they dont sell any tickets). Get a good OOC home game a year. But make sure your department is sustainable.
