Wonder if FSU will still be in the ACC then.

I'm more impressed with Texas Tech at Texas State than a body bag away game. We all do way too much of that.

I don't understand why we're already doing body bags for a paycheck. Our budget can sustain itself without a near guaranteed loss and $950,000.

Because that's what the fans asked for. The fans asked the athletic department to schedule games with teams people have heard of.

No, fans want those teams in San Marocs... or at least a scheduling deal worked out. We are literally flying to a big time BCS team's stadium to lose and collect a paycheck. That's not hard to do..

Why do that to the players? Or coaches for that matter? How many Texas State fans do you think will travel to Florida? They are doing it for the money, not the fans.

Welcome to the Sun Belt. Not many teams in this league can get away without playing one of those games. They key is to schedule teams you have a chance to beat.

Cmon, It's 3 years out. We gotta step up sooner or later. Plus hopefully will be televised.

It helps with recruiting as well.

Saying you are playing non-conference games against FSU, Okie State, Arkansas is a lot more impressive to high school kids than Tulane, Memphis, etc.

Navy is a good one too.
At least South fans are excited about our 4 games (2 home 2 away) with them.
But we are on the coast and the Navy is a huge part of the culture and identity around here.
Maybe it ain't as exciting for non-coastal Texans.

Everyone at the non major level plays money games. TSU fans expecting these to be home and homes is another example of arrogance and a sense of entitlement. I can't wait until you go 0-9 in the sun belt after bashing it for so long. That should be quite entertaining.

Texas State should be scheduling Air Force and Army.

This.

MTSU's done a good job scheduling BCS teams they actually have a chance at beating (Vanderbilt x3, Virgina, Maryland x2, Minnesota & Purdue).

No one said they expect home and home games, they just said it would be better. And, no doubt, posting a decent record in the Sun Belt will be tough for us at first - especially now that one of the weakest teams is leaving.

Texas State should be able to work some decent 3-1's, 2-1's and even home and homes, but Florida State is one of those programs that's not coming to any Sun Belt stadium.

You have to realize that you're going to play some of these games, it just comes with the territory, the key is to play 1-2 a year at most, if you can manage to schedule 1 most years with none on occasion you're really doing it right. Just don't end up like some Sun Belt programs who consider playing 2 paycheck games in the same season a break.

Agreed. With fort hood, fort Sam Houston, Randolph afb, and Lackland afb within a couple of hours it would be a good draw. Plus keep us relevant in SA.

Hey, CUSA . . eeeerrrr ntmeangreen, What do you care whom we schedule? . . and for the last time, we're NOT TSU .. I'd expect someone outside TX to make that mistake, but not someone from Denton. TSU is TX Southern. We're TX ST. I'm trying to believe it's just a honest mistake on your part, and not the by-product of an inferior North TX ed-u-ma-cation . . .

You're not too bright, are you?

Nobody is expecting home and homes. That wasn't even brought up in this thread at all.

What was mentioned is a valid point: a bodybag game when one isn't really necessary.

As was mentioned, our budget can sustain itself without playing such a game. It is a near 100% certainty it will be a loss, and in all likelihood will not be on tv. Therefore, to watch my beloved bobcats, I'll have to do a rather sizable trip.

Just doesn't seem like a great idea to me.

And given our AD's history of "great ideas" it seems even more suspect.
