Power Ratings - Week #7
Lol. UAB beats the 5th (LT) and 9th (MTSU) best teams and lost to the 2nd best team on the road by 3 and we are 10th. MTSU beat FIU by 20. FIU struggled against every bad opponent they beat, except Tulane who was a good win. And you have them 7th.
It's okay, it's good to be a homer

The rank is from the current Massey Composite list. I used it as it's an index of indexes.
You might want to ask a question or two before making your 'ass'umptions.

I would have UNT first and Marshall second and have UAB in front of Middle.

I understand that and was hasty in my assumption which is why I tried to delete the post almost immediately but it wouldn't let me. Don't really agree with the Massey list as UAB automatically started at #130 on basically everyones list due to not having a program the year prior. Or maybe it's still calculating correctly regardless. Who knows
Edit: or its just the awfully weird Ball state Road loss which drops us heavily in the rankings now. We outgained them by 130 yards and lost by 20

Shouldn't it say "Week 8"?
Here's last week's: http://csnbbs.com/thread-829380.html
I just thought that since we are in the Week 8 then the ratings would be "Week 8 ratings" (or "rankings AFTER Week 7")
This is nitpicking, however, and can be disregarded.

If the FIU that played against Tulane shows up like that every week, then those ratings are fine. If the FIU that showed up against MT shows up again, then FIU is overrated. Marshall will be a great test (probably will get our butts kicked).

RE: Power Ratings - Week #7
I don't care what those professional ratings say. I trust my eyes. And, I see it like this...
1: Marshall- 5-1, best record in C-USA
2: UNT- Still improving
3: Southern Miss- Also improving
4: UTSA- A very good team
5: UAB- Hope they're not your Homecoming opponent
6. LA Tech- Not as potent as they had been
7: FAU- Too one dimensional
8: WKU- Slipping?
9: FIU- Tulane win helps
10: MTSU- UAB loss really hurts
11: ODU- Really bad
12: Rice- Even worse
13: UTEP- Horrible, but making changes
14: Charlotte- Horrible, but yet to make changes

RE: Power Ratings - Week #7
Here are my absolutely 100%, completely indisputable, with 0 bias power rankings:
1) North Texas: Seem to be the best team. Can overcome very good defenses like UTSA, can shutdown the run (only allowed 1 100 yard rusher (Ito Smith 102)), and has the best QB, WR, & RB in CUSA
2) Marshall: Suffocating defense, but inconsistent offense. Plus Ain’t Played Nobody
3) Southern Miss: Lost to 5-1 Kentucky by a TD, lost to my #1 by 15. Those are quality losses, and they have an it factor this season. Will largely depend on QB play the rest of the way.
4) UAB: Pleasantly surprised with how well UAB has done this season. Also glad we have already played them.
5) FAU: The Fighting Lane Kiffins are pretty good on offense, well their running game Ian good anyways. Good at controlling TOP. Porous defense though can result in them dropping way down this list.
6) LA Tech: Thought they would win the West this year, also thought they would be down though. And that’s what we’re seeing from Tech YUGE inconsistency.
7) UTSA: Good defense but they hadn’t played anyone when they were 3-0. I think they can win out though (UAB game a tossup).
8) WKU: I TRIED TO TELL EVERYONE WKU WOULD BE WAY DOWN BUT NO ONE LISTENED NOW DO YOU BELIEVE ME???????
9) MTSU: Injuries suck.
10) FIU: Better... kinda.
11) ODU: Again, injuries suck. It could Ben worse though.
12) Rice: #FireBailiff
13) UTEP: #HireAnyoneButGrahamHarrell
14) Charlotte: #FireJudy

RE: Power Ratings - Week #7
My most objective ratings are back. As the reminder, they are based 100% on stats, which may or may not be irrelevant. (Pass Off, Run Off, Points Scored, Pass Def, Run Def., Points Allowed)
Code:
# Team PO RO PS PD RD PD TOTAL
1. UTSA 49 30 43 21 26 34 33.833
2. USM 48 45 64 46 17 23 40.500
3. Marshall 64 89 80 42 29 9 52.167
4. UNT 17 38 25 106 44 103 55.500
5. WKU 20 129 86 34 52 18 56.500
6. UAB 95 27 49 36 74 83 60.667
7. FAU 109 15 38 32 113 65 62.000
8. LaTech 46 78 73 63 76 73 68.167
9. MTSU 47 112 114 51 56 60 73.333

Well, except for the current #1 ACC team, and we’ve given them as good of a fight as any ACC team has.

UAB in front of Middle sounds right. They are really underrated in the OP.

.
The most over used cliche in college football. Just about all the pundits like to throw that line out there usually based on the perception of the team without consideration of how they are performing in a given season.

RE: Power Ratings - Week #7
I look at it this way UTSA handed UNT a win UNT gets the win but it was a gift so no way I put them #1. UNT is two lucky plays away from being 2-4 . Sometimes I guess it's better to be lucky than good.
I'm not sold that Marshall's defense is as good as it shows in the stats but right now in a conference that is probably a lot worse than records show. I would put Marshall #1
FAU #2
UNT #3
S.Miss #4
the next 4 you can put them in a bag and draw them out
then...
Middle#9
FIU #10
Rice #11
ODU #12
UTEP @13
UNCC #14
Yes I put Western in that bag of 4 and the reason I did....this team has more room to grow on offense than any team in the conference. It's not talent and its not QB. It's all on coaches changing the play calling. I honestly don't see that happening but the offensive talent is there if a light bulb goes on.
As bad as Western's offense has looked this team is a last second fg away from being 5-1...awful easy schedule plays into that. But if we are being honest not many teams in this conference are much better than the teams Western played....
any power rankings that puts FIU in the top 70 is a joke
