Only a couple spots left open. (of course a few more could open with the NFL season ends). Starting to look like Fleck is safely staying...which I've said all along.

Nobody's going after Rod Carey or PJ? I can understand not PJ, because it'd pretty much take a P5 to take him with him getting another "bump". But not Rod Carey, huh?

I bet they both said no to ECU.

His MACC game appearances haven't.
And he's undefeated against our NIU alum coach.

East Carolina: Former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke is a “leading candidate” for the ECU head coaching job and will have a second interview on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy. NC State offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Matt Canada has also interviewed.
Tulane: ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reports former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke has interviewed for the Tulane head coaching job.

funny how Major's statement of facts can both look like a slap at WMU's coach and a compliment of a foe's coach. Odd times...odd times.

Tulane: The Advocate reports Tulane is nearing an agreement with Georgia Southern head coach Willie Fritz. The deal is not completed yet, but should be announced today.

So weird. That's a lateral move...and calling it lateral might be a compliment to Tulane.

It gets him closer to Texas where he's got extensive connections for recruiting. I would also think that Tulane offered more $$$.
I think it's smart for him and wouldn't be surprised to see him in the running for the UH job when Tom Herman leaves for one of the big Texas schools.

He only makes $500k at GSU. I am sure that Tulane will pay double.
That said, winning at Tulane has proven to be near impossible and will most likely end up as a career killer for a rising star.

I dunno. Not necessarily. It's not like coaching Kansas or EMU. You'd basically need a coach who knows how to recruit really well (and coach darn good).

You say that about Kansas, but remember that in 2007 they ended the season ranked #7 and at one time they were ranked as high as #2 that year. The problem is that you cannot sustain that level at KU. 2 years after their dream season, their coach was fired.

True. I forgot about that dream sequence they had. Wake Forrest made it to a BCS bowl in the 00's, which is hard to remember/fathom as well, due to how they too establish themselves as losing programs.
Anyway, to my point -- I think especially with a mid-major with some $$, it's easier not to be bottom of the barrel, as it'd take an exception, and I don't think Tulane's one of them. BUT I still wouldn't want to coach there if I'm riding well on a G5 team, unless I wasn't paid well at all and Tulane threw out mass/crazy coin at me. I'd rather avoid that lateral move unless I went there or something. But a rising D1AA star? A rising DC/OC coach? If one focuses on being a good recruiter, sure!

Tulane isn't necessarily a career-killer. They went undefeated in the mid-90's with Shaun King.
It's not even that terrible of a situation right now. Good young group of offensive weapons right now despite the W/L record. Lots of room for growth. Plus, they may have already peaked at Georgia Southern and he sees it.
