It is but somewhat puzzling. Mendenhall has no ties to East or ACC. Maybe he felt played out at BYU. Hard to believe he got significantly more money.

Supposedly he's going from 2 million to 3.25 million. The independence that BYU has chosen isn't good for a coach. The best they can do is the Las Vegas Bowl. They're never getting invited to a major bowl game when the bowls already have to take a G5 champ.

Good info, nick. I would've thought with his success and BYU having its own network, he would've been making more money at a "football" school than he'd get a UVA.

Hearing news of Dino Babers to Syracuse, could be confirmed by school as early as today (per the four-letter network)

BUGS to bowl without their coach.

If the NC$$ wants to be taken serious, they need to instill some sort of no tampering rules until the season is over.

Rutgers:
Ohio State co-defensive coordinator / safeties coach Chris Ash will be named Rutgers head coach, according to Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans.

They'd have to fiddle with recruiting. That's why people like to bail immediately for the new job.

Which would be fine. Figure it out and quit using "the way it is" as a barrier for improving.

This isn't working for anyone but the more money U's and definitely not good for the student athletes.

So the HC jobs at North Texas, Syracuse and Rutgers all got filled today. How many are still open?

Sorry if this has already been posted...Mizzou names DC Barry Odom as new HC (no longer interim) and Rutgers expected to name Paul Ash as new HC. Ash is Ohio State's Co-DC. This is from Footballscoop.com.

I give Dino credit for not talking with any schools until after the MACC.

belt, don't be naïve - maybe Babers didn't talk directly to other schools, but his agent did.

You don't get hired the morning after your last game at previous school otherwise.

I'm sure that he had already talked with Syracuse, they just had an agreement to not make it public until today.

Kind of like how Campbell didn't talk until after our game with Toledo?

Guess I have to agree with your statement. But it was kept behind the scenes and he kept his team focused on the MACC.

South Carolina: Industry sources believe the Gamecocks are down to Will Muschamp and Rich Rodriguez. Richrod is crazy for leaving Arizona, but he prefers the east coast.
