Also, please don't compare Georgia State FBS prospects (prior to invitation) to Kennesaw State's FBS prospects. The realignment environment is very different.

Things are always different. That is why I promote watching the horizon. Because of realignment, possibilities come out of the shadows. Example: Coastal Carolina.

Georgia Southern fans on this board believe they have some new found territory to protect in Georgia. KSU being in Atlanta potentially places them above Ga Southern in the pecking order for future students and athletes.
At the moment I believe the Georgia football pecking order is:
Georgia
Georgia Tech
Georgia Southern
Georgia State
Kennesaw State
Valdosta State
Valdosta State has the most championships of any of the schools in the state. However, it is D2 and in the southern end of the state. Kennesaw is in Atlanta. Therefore, if it became FBS, the pecking order gets jumbled especially if Ga State and Kennesaw State continue there rivalry in multiple sports. The pecking order then becomes
Georgia
Georgia Tech
Georgia State
Kennesaw State
Georgia Southern
That is the reason the Ga Southern crew does not want us to focus and see Kennesaw State standing in their front yard. It burned them up when lowly Ga State, without a football team, made it to FBS first. Now the Owls have the potential to reach FBS in short order and that burns the eagles tail feathers.
I am not preaching KSU >>> Ga Southern. Just trying to understand the hostility about discussing KSU.
Most championships? GS has six national and 10 socon and 1 Sun Belt conference championships. That is with not joining a conference until 1992...so yeah....

I really hate to join the side of Georgia Southern here, but there is no way Kennesaw is above Southern when in comes to overall athletics. Kennesaw has a strong baseball team. And a football team the jury is still out on. That is it. So the math doesn't add up there.
The KSU GSU rivalry you speak of is news to me. Never heard of it when my sister was in school there in the early 90s. Definitely wasn't there when I was there. So I don't know where this rivalry you speak of is.

I have never heard anything about KSU except for their baseball team. NE Cobb is a gold mine for talent though.
KSU is in a talent rich state so they should be able to win consistently at the FCS level but as far as being an athletic rival to either GS or GSU that is also news to me.
Winning and success decides pecking orders not rivalries or location....and certainly not some dude's opinion that does not even know what team actually has the most championships in football.
i honestly believe Karl Benson should hire FlardaJag as the sun belt conference Expansion Czar.
he's always looking down the road with an open mind. he was right about ga. state and right about ga. southern. so if he says there's another ga. school that's capable down the road i know i am going to give a good listening to.
i'm also interested in who he thinks is a potential down the road addition in his very own sunshine state. i guarantee he's given it thought. isn't there a school in the panhandle? what about FGCU? western is playing in a hoops tourney there next month and i'm going to it. i can scope and scoop the campus for him if needed.
if he is appointed Expansion Czar i'm in for 5 bucks for this hat.

FGCU is poised to go, however, they are very young school. The stated goal is to wait until the alumni numbers grow. They are already at about 15,000 students and I believe degrees awarded are over 2,000 per. They should have over 30,000 young rabid alumni in about 3 more years. The last time I was down in Ft. Myers was about 5 years ago. I would very much like to get your frank impression of the campus.
UWF is in Pensacola is about 13,000 students. They hit the field next year. I would have picked them over Coastal. Pensacola is roughly 45 miles from Mobile, downtown to downtown.
UNF in Jacksonville is mystery. They should have started football 6 years ago.
