I went through this same c$%@p when we were discussing Georgia State. Back then Panama was with me. Same thing when we were hyping Ga Southern, the Ga State folks hated it. It is par for the course.

I noticed that Ga Southern has turned into the Ga State crew when it comes to discussing there brother schools in Georgia. It is amazing how the high and mighty come out of the wood work once they get an invite.

Post about Kennesaw State are no different than the past debates about Georgia State in the recent past. Georgia State did not have a football team until 2010. So their lead on Kennesaw State is not that great.

I don't think the sbc should be the only FBS conference to have two schools named after mountains. This could open the door to adding schools named after rivers. Isn't that a reasonable position from a perception standpoint ?

The negativity comes from Georgia Southern folks trying to protect their newly gained distinction from a fellow Georgia University. Georgia Southern fans on this board believe they have some new found territory to protect in Georgia. KSU being in Atlanta potentially places them above Ga Southern in the pecking order for future students and athletes.

At the moment I believe the Georgia football pecking order is:

Georgia
Georgia Tech
Georgia Southern
Georgia State
Kennesaw State
Valdosta State

Valdosta State has the most championships of any of the schools in the state. However, it is D2 and in the southern end of the state. Kennesaw is in Atlanta. Therefore, if it became FBS, the pecking order gets jumbled especially if Ga State and Kennesaw State continue there rivalry in multiple sports. The pecking order then becomes

Georgia Tech
Georgia State
Kennesaw State
Georgia Southern

That is the reason the Ga Southern crew does not want us to focus and see Kennesaw State standing in their front yard. It burned them up when lowly Ga State, without a football team, made it to FBS first. Now the Owls have the potential to reach FBS in short order and that burns the eagles tail feathers.

None of the fans here should feel beholden to whatever speculative service you've given in the past. Message board speculation provides diddly in the process to build a program and get it to the FBS ranks.

Also, we literally feel zero pressure from having KSU joining the Big South and the FCS. Heck, we have well funded SoCon member that is much closer and has not affected us in the least bit.

There is plenty of room in this State for a successful FCS, G5 and P5 all at the same time.

I did not say they are beholden to previous commentary. I was just reflecting on the severe angst that Ga Southern posters are having about discussing a possible future for KSU in the Sun Belt and how it was familiar to previous dicusssions about Ga State and Ga Southern.

I totally agree with you about enough room for successful programs in Georgia.
