RE: F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Let the market decide.
If kids and players are turned off by Fleck's mug everywhere and his flashy showmanship, he'll feel the chill on the recruiting trail and will be forced to change.
Seems like it hasn't hurt "demand" yet.
We elect politicians and pay money to watch Hollywood celebrities in movies. Both a self-promoting, narcissistic bunch who could be insufferable behind closed doors.
Yet we don't really care. Just do what you're elected/paid to do.

Not much different than what is happening with uofm football, the team is driving around the state in a bus dressed up like "their coach" complete with Khaki pants and shirt.....another example where the coach is out a head of the team....the coach becomes the brand. The public loves it and they are marketing it for all its worth.

Why is it so important that we all slobber over PJ?
I like what he's done. I can overlook some of his goofy behavior, as long as produces and doesn't embarrass the school..........too much.
Some are starting to remind me of those slobbering Walmart Wolv fans when Hoke came on board. If Fleck becomes the next Nick Sabin we can all say we once knew him. In the mean time he is a HIGHLY COMPENSATED (I'll never figure that one out) 9-15 mid major coach who is trending up.

Embrace it, own it like you...well we can just assume what Todd would say here.
We have a coach that's a brand, he went to the Madonna school of marketing, it's effective, as long as he doesn't wear a wedding dress like Rodman!
Someday we can look back fondly the way Boise does about Hawkins, some glad they had him, some glad he's gone, but all are glad.
Meanwhile, keep on #brocoach.

I can understand eye-rolling over him like UM fans over their next new coach, sure. At the same time, eye-rolling over improving and getting back on track last year -- huge sigh of relief. And in reference to this thread, going WTH over a video being about the coach bringing them together ..... well, that's worse. Liking the video alot -- that's bad? No.

From an outsiders perspective, not that you care, the thought of PJ self promoting didn't even cross my mind. All that came to mind was damn, here comes WMU with another well done video that will get publicity and why can't CMU be proactive and do something like this? Bono has been miles ahead of Enos, but WMU and Fleck have been ahead of everyone it seems.
Honestly, I thought it was a very good video that showcased the atmosphere PJ has build in just two years at WMU. It's something that will likely be noticed by recruits. As wacky as he and his mantras are, the players seem to have bought in.

The OP inserted a link and said, "New Video from the WMU Football Video Team." Nothing outlandish in that post. This was followed by a barrage of criticism toward the number of Fleck appearances in the video, subsequently followed by some back n forth with a handful defending the video and its marketing value.
In short, it's nowhere near a slobbering Walmart Wolvie thread. Not even in the same ballpark.

Well, it really wasn't a barrage either, Davis just voiced his opinion, since we're going to downplay the turn of events, let's be fair and balanced about it here.

The complaining is just by some butt-hurt posters who were mad at the way our last coach was let go, and pissed that we hired a "nobody with a boy-band haircut".
One of them - who seems to be lurking around under yet another name - even went as far as ranting that he and other "true fans" weren't involved in the hiring process. Hilariously delusional.
Whatever their complaints, Fleck is building a deeper program than he inherited. I don't expect us to beat the B1G opponents this year, but we should challenge in the MAC.
No excuses for not winning the MAC in 2016.

I can't see how someone can say that there's not at least some truth to that statement.

True.
Quote:I don't expect us to beat the B1G opponents this year, but we should challenge in the MAC.
Yeah, we should. Hopefully the 3 big OOC games don't ding us up. But the same can be said for other big MAC teams, too. We should be in the running where if one of them gets dinged up in key spots, and we aren't, that we nekton them for a W on the road. We can't Expect to go better than 6-2 in conference play. I would say 5-3 would be a "safe bet", but at the same time, anything below that would be a big disappointment.
Quote:No excuses for not winning the MAC in 2016.
True 'dat. Toledo & NIU at home. Us at our peak, and @CMU being a better team after the Enos downfall, but not ready enough for us. With UMass gone, the MAC East schedule will be different, so we very well may NOT have BGSU (whew), but the MAC East will be even tougher outside of them. But we should be having Actual Expectations to WIN the MAC 2016.

So you resort to flat out lies about what people said....I see. Predictable is how mad you guys get at people that even dare to not be as giddy as you over your boy. That's fine, now you have #brocoach.
Deal with it, have fun, own it and quit trying to find things to be mad about here.
