I did hear the player interview parts. Exact quotes:

Terrell "He (Fleck) is the most energetic coach around"
Kristof: "His (Fleck) energy is second to none..."
Terrell: "That is what makes him (Fleck) so special"
Franklin: "He (Fleck) brings it everyday..."
Franklin: His (Fleck) energy is very contagious..."
Kristof: "...Coach Fleck came and took over the program and changed the culture"

Are you suggesting our student athletes can't think for themselves?

Someone should ask Fleck that at the next presser.

Indeed, college football programs are built around the head coach. In order to recruit great players, the kids need to believe in and want to play for the head coach. Image is everything with the kids, and frankly many of the parents too. Fleck gets this.

Additionally, his row the boat, and FAMILY mantra does have some meaning, and allows the players, coaches, school administrators, students and fans to get behind something, and circle the wagons around the program.

Watching fleck is like watching a car dealership owner dress up like superman for a TV commercial, or an appliance store guy doing the same thing. It’s all part of it, and Fleck has the perfect personality.

And finally, yes, much of what Fleck does in putting himself in the limelight is to bolster his image to promote himself for future job offers. So what! The guy came on the scene out of nowhere as the youngest coach in D-1, and brought great enthusiasm, and a vision, but ended with a terrible record. He never wavered from the plan though, even though everyone on the outside tore him to pieces over the RTB thing; many on this board included. He asked his players to stick with him, and they did. He does seem to care about his players, and treats them with respect and enthusiasm. If he accomplishes great things at WMU, and desires the opportunity to coach at a bigger program, who can disparage that, and there is nothing wrong with getting his name out there.

Is Fleck a different kind of guy? Yes he is. And I am quite glad he is our different kind of guy.

Sycophant.

LOL. Not really with Fleck. But I do tend to lick my wife's boots.

Not at all. The video editor chose what parts of their interview to include.

Sorry/not sorry if you don't like the truth. It is a self promoting video. It is ok if you like it. Personally I would have rather see a video with more pro WMU content.

RE: F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Terrell, Kristof, Franklin and other players all buying in to the system.

Some thoughts from the players (I'm paraphrasing slightly):

Love for each other
Playing for the guy next to you
Every player has a family at WMU
Getting the best out of every player
Passion is love, love is everything
Blood, sweat and tears, magnify the bond
Sacrifice for each other
Balls to the wall
Energy. Not just rambunctious energy; positive energy, motivational, contagious
Always teaching, always demanding, demanding more
Never settle for anything other than your best, change your best
Be ready
Once the whole team gets it, we're rolling
Coaches really care
Changing culture
Tough to explain if you're not in it, but it's one of the best things I've ever experienced

How can you not be excited about seeing young men embracing these ideas?

#RTB

For Christsake...

Fleck could win a national title and haters would be on here like, "oh look at how he smiles when he accepts the trophy. He knows the camera's on him. All about him. Blah blah blah..."

It's too easy to hate on bro and not see the positives, because he comes across as such a Fuller Brush Salesman. But really, if you can look through the veneer, you'll all see that he's #brocoach!!!!

What a few select people fail to understand is that it is self-promoting for Fleck, we get that. That's the whole point. Connect the dots... what benefits P.J. Fleck, benefits WMU. Not that hard to grasp.

Nailed it!
All summer we've been hearing of Harbaugh for UofM. I can't name a single UofM player but I literally hear the name Harbaugh every day.
Dantonio isn't as brought up as much, but Tom Izzo definitely is, as is Urban Meyer and Nick Saban.

I don't think Fleck should tone it down at all the way we've been trending up. Only thing that rubs me the wrong way is when he says 'WMU has 0 history' as I know players/former players/people involved in WMU football before he was hired.

But Fleck is gaining us national and recruiting attention. All summer when I hear WMU mentioned, Fleck's name is in the same breath.

The video is meant to build hype and that's what Fleck does/is.
