Check out memphis TV ratings this year yall barely give exposure in the city of memphis much less 5 surrounding states.
Just facts btw don't get mad.

Yah ole miss and Tennessee. Memphis was dead last in aac TV ratings this year despite the best team in a decade.
What is your point you are trying to prove in all this? I was talking about Big 12 gaining recruiting grounds. That is literally all I said.

How many times were we on ESPN and ESPN 2 compared to almost every other AAC team?
Almost none.
I know for a fact that folks here were driving all around town, looking for somewhere to watch the Memphis-UCLA game since no one has the PAC network. I'd wager that most don't have a sports-tier subscription to CBSSN either.
Let's see these figures NEXT season, when we might actually play a damn game on a mainstream channel.

RE: Will the Big 12 look to the AAC for expansion?
Haven't we already had dozens of these threads? Was it really necessary to start another saying the exact same thing?
With that said, the Big 12 is obviously #5 of the P5. Further diluting it with schools of little value (see the AAC's TV deal if you disagree) would not magically move them up the totem pole. If UT and OU are on the verge of the top 4, you better believe they won't be left out. Therefore, no, I don't think they feel the pressure to expand.

No you also said "but our city does love football" and then linked to an article propping up memphis ratings based on city of Memphis watching sec football.

Not untrue but Tulsa and tulane for example were ahead of memphis and likely had as many games on ESPN or espn 2.

I said the city like college football. The article propping the city of Memphis TV ratings. A Big 12 schedule bumps that even further.

RE: Will the Big 12 look to the AAC for expansion?
Who the Big 12 adds (if they add) is gonna come down to what schools fit their top criteria, which has yet to be determined/made publicly known.
Fertile Recruiting Ground: Memphis, Cincinnati, UCF, USF, Tulane
National Brand: BYU
Top Markets: UCF, USF
Athletic Revenue: BYU, UCONN
Consistently Strong Football: Boise, Cincinnati, UCF
Strong Endowment: SMU, Cincinnati, Tulane
Academics: Rice, Tulane, SMU, UCONN
Consistently Strong Basketball: UCONN, Cincinnati, Memphis
Expanding The Footprint: Anyone outside of Texas
Etc.....
Edit: Sorry if I left anyone else out that should be included in some categories. I was more making a "For example" list than something set in stone. I don't mean to slight any programs.

Look, I know some find it laughable but looking through your list you forget Tulane yet we have perhaps the least tapped national recruiting area, academics, endowment, AAU and maybe the premier college sports city and top 2-3 destination for fans. The people love college sports, the market is decent sized and growing. We have some history as well. Yes, there is the pesky problem that we stink.

I would say that New Orleans is the top 2-3 destination for fans as long as your saying that Tampa and Orlando are 1-2.... and as much as Tulane does have amazing academics and an endowment, your sports are equally unimpressive. Over the last 5 years, Tulane has made USF look good.

I disagree. Tampa and Orlando are great for family trips or couples but the paying college sports customers are typically males in the 25-50 bracket, thus NOLA is more attractive. We are talking about weekend trips with your buddies not vacations, it's a different demo.
As I said, we stink.

I love New Orleans one of my favorite places to visit. That said there's a reason orlando has three bowl games

They have an empty stadium to utilize and lets just say the bowls are not packed. I also think bowls around holiday season are a different dynamic. NOLA has two bowls BTW with one being more relevant than the three Orl bowls combined. Traditionally hasn't Orl just had two like NOLA?
Is Orl and Tampa solid destination cities, of course, but for college FBall fans I put NOLA ahead. If you ask the common FBall fan to rank what city they would prefer between the three, I think the answer would be very obvious. Not to mention hosting the B12 championship game in the Dome >>>>>>Citrus Bowl (or Ray Jay) as it fits much better for their footprint and fanbase.

The FedEx Big XII Championship Game would almost certainly be a part of that deal.
Many of us remember how it was claimed by Memphis fans that when Memphis joined the AAC Fed Ex would shower us with sponsorship cash, ensure the Liberty Bowl was AAC, etc.
Apparently Fed Ex had other ideas so not sure you should believe this hype either.
Plus, Memphis is 750+ miles from Morgantown, so not much of a "bridge" to WVU, and as far as market goes, it is swamped on all sides by the SEC. Football penetration for the Big 12 would be minimal.

IMO, That is what puts us higher then the rest of the potential teams that would be added.
Oh definitely. We're just too young to have any money sitting around like that. Everyone talks about how you need to pay for yourself to make it worth it, well Cincy can probably do that and Memphis definitely can with some help from their favorite booster. It really helps that Fuente has you guys peaking at an opportune time.
Yep, having one of the best season in probably the last 5-10 years couldn't of come at a more perfect time.
just one season isn't good enough they want winning tradition.

FedEx was actually mentioned in the Memphis - Big East membership contract. Note this was the "old Big East." The Liberty Bowl also had a contract with the "old Big East" - unrelated to Memphis. A trhe time they had no reason to move. Yet, if the Liberty Bowl can get the Big 12 and SEC do you really think they'd contract with The American? Note - this is a MUCH different conference than the old Big East. I ask because now they have one with the Big 12 and SEC.
