This won't be a popular post on here but you asked a question and I'll give you an honest answer. For me, "happy with the Big East" ended last year when WVU, TCU, Pitt, and Cuse left. The Big East just lost Rutgers and is about to lose another member (most likely UConn). That means every team we originally signed up to play in the Big East will be gone (other than UC and USF).
I understand that the Big East has to have teams and we took the best teams available (competitively and financially). But outside of Boise St, none of the new additions really excited me or made me happy either (I also wasn't one of the emo crybabies about it either). It isn't because I hated those teams or thought UofL was head and shoulders better than them. It is because I knew that regardless of the on-the-field results, the Big East would get slammed nationally as becoming an even weaker football league and that that negative publicity would damage our abilities to stay in the BCS/land bigger bowls. As a side note, I don't expect SMU, Navy, SDSU, etc are falling over themselves to be in a conference with Louisville either since none of them much history together and because UofL isn't a big enough of a name brand to get fan excited.
Right now, "numb" is pretty much how I feel about the Big East. This isn't the league UofL signed up to play in but maybe in time I'll learn to love it. As for what the league should do, it is simple:
- Add whoever makes the most sense financially
- Expand to make money, not just for expansion's sake (i.e. no to 16 teams)
- Add teams to make the western teams happy.
- Move Memphis and Temple back east if possible.
