Big East 2014: Still 16 Teams
Reality check: the "nowhere else to go" crowd still plays together in two years:

Central Florida
Cincinnati
Connecticut or Louisville
DePaul
Georgetown
Houston
Marquette
Masachusetts or ECU
Memphis
Providence
St. John's
Seton Hall
South Florida
Southern Methodist
Temple
Villanova

Georgetown might (slim chance) have a place to land, but overall I agree with your sentiment, still great basketball to be had in that group :)

I swear we need to change your name to EmoTiger. The top of the conference is still great, the middle is still strong, and we won't be the first to have a few bottom feeders, what exactly is there to be pessimistic about with Big East hoops?!

Georgetown, Nova, Temple, Marquette, Memphis, Cincy, and Louisville/UConn is a top seven that most other conferences can't touch. USF and UCF have both shown promise and I'd gladly take their programs over Miami's at this point, while Houston and even SMU seem like they're at least making the effort needed to become nationally relevant (again, in UH's case).

It's a tremendously deep, exciting basketball lineup.

Of course that's only an 8 team football league that's ridiculously spread out.

But it's 10 with SDSU and BSU, who aren't going anywhere, and 11 if Navy sticks around. But 10, at least. And we could add 1 to 4 of BYU/AFA/Fresno/ECU, to get to 12 or 14. Aresco said today, even if CT or UL leaves, we're still going to 14. What's not to love?

Yes, I believe the plan is to pay extra to leave in time for the 2014 season.

Can we assume that the two division plan will be in place next season and after that its all up in the air?
