RE: Question for western members
No. Three would be ideal, to make sure Navy, Temple and Memphis stay east for travel considerations.

RE: Question for western members
As long as none of them are directional schools I'd be good.

RE: Question for western members
We know ECU is a little *ahem* eager to want to join. I don't have an issue with it so long as a real western division is created. The problem seems to be with your eastern comrades. They apparently aren't too thrilled at the idea of your joining. You'll really have to convince them.

Yeah, what is that all about? Next thing you will be talking about how a good UMass team would fit as a western division rival! 03-puke

For me it's not that I am thrilled or not thrilled about ECU it's just that I think the West needs some major attention and related to that ECU gets lost in the shuffle this time. In the future?? Perhaps.

RE: Question for western members
If we add 2-3 more western schools, we could have an all-sports western division. Assuming the majority of oly sports stayed in the west and never played the cross division.

If that's the case, then I would say 3 western schools because there are far better basketball schools and markets out west (UNLV for example).

BYU, Fresno, UNLV would be my choices

Western Division all sports
BSU
SDSU
Houston
SMU
BYU
Fresno
UNLV

This would be the best possible solution IMO. The B Ball game got me excited last night and that would be a good b ball conf.

RE: Question for western members
How do you propose to have an "all sports" western division? We joined "FB only" by choice, not from some limitation by the BE. We did so to keep the costs down. If you create a western division that is all sports, they would have to play the east as well. Fine, maybe, for BB but not for the Oly sports.
Oly sports are meant to be regional. There will never be a western all sports division imo. Best we can hope for is getting them together in an existing conference.

Can't start our own western division conference either - adds that are all sports already want to play the eastern schools. Not to mention the hardships that come along with creating a new conference, even if it is to house a western divisions non FB sports together.

So I seriously doubt a western division becomes all sports.

So a huge, gigantic, ginormous and emphatic "NO!" to UNLV.
(sorry, can't say it enough on this board!)
