Rice did beat Memphis.. maybe we should root for them, shrug… I think either team will probably get blown out tomorrow, but I’ve seen crazier things happen.

If you catch Memphis on the wrong day; they are one of the most erratic, disjointed, selfish basketball teams I’ve ever seen, capable of huge implosions. Of course, the exact same thing can be said about us, except for the selfish part

Shockers win 88-81. Both teams shot 50% or better from the field and from 3.

The Shockers take on Memphis tomorrow.

Really funny in a sad way that out of those three teams, that the one team we beat was Memphis.

Also, those 3 teams were the last 3 to beat us.

RE: Madness begins today.
Wichita is a weird team to figure. They got destroyed by 36 points by Memphis at home, then turned around and lost by only 2 points at Memphis. They lost to the Missouri team that didn't win a game in the SEC. They lost twice to Temple. But they also lost by 4 at South Florida and lost to FAU in overtime in addition to winning at UAB. They seem to have played better against the better teams in the league. Memphis should take care of business but also wouldn't be surprised if Wichita played a great ballgame and maybe even got them.

I ain't afraid of Penny. We played three good halves out of four against them, and we match up well with them relatively speaking. Luckily, Andy doesn't have to worry about breaking down that wacky Rice offense that absolutely FN torched us.

Yeahhhh.. but in that one half they beat us by 40 points.

I’m scared of them if they are locked in and playing relatively cohesively. They are like us, if they start to get out of control they can spiral quickly. But they also play super fast and can score a ton of points, which makes erasing a deficit pretty easy for them.. sometimes

I think we would’ve beaten them if we hadn’t brain farted away the last minute before halftime and let quinerly go on a 7-0 run. That gave them ALL the momentum. They are definitely a momentum team, both ways.

Temple beats UTSA. No word on what bets the Temple players had riding on the game.

I want Memphis. I want to see the character of this team. We've been hard to figure at times and certainly frustrating but I wasn't expecting making the NCAA tournament this year. A win over the team we have historically struggled against might make a statement that next year could be special. Even if we go on to lose Saturday.

I am assuming that both EG and Yax will be gone after this season. So I am not ready to make predictions as to what next years squad will look like without those two. I need to see Satterfield and our JUCO guard play, and I need to know what our post rotation is going to look like.

McNeese State just won the Southland. 30-3. I'd hate to get matched up against them if I was a week 4-seed.

FYI I detest Will Wade. such a tasteless cheater.

Trey playing in the NBA right now may help us to keep Yax , EG wont be happy after he try the nba evaluation and be back next year

I see Yax staying for some reason..

EG who the heck knows. He’s not an nba player and won’t develop into one unless he puts on 20 lbs of muscle and shoots above 28% from three for a season… so he either goes pro somewhere else or comes back and tries
To hone his game another year

Another path I could see is Will Wade getting a better job and calling Gaines

Gaines could possibly transfer and have it make sense. He’d be taking a risk, but he needs to take one at this point in his life.

Yax, I don’t know about. He seems really comfortable at UAB, and he knows exactly what he’s getting out of the team and AK. He also seems to genuinely like UAB and is really active on social media in support of the team and players. He could leave for sure, he’s definitely good enough. UAB offers the chance to be the man, be guaranteed 35-40 minutes a game, and play in a system he is already familiar with. He’s not guaranteed anything other than money if he decides to transfer.

I agree

1 year of guaranteed money vs. a year of guaranteed being made "the man" on your team, playing a much tougher schedule, with better exposure on espn a lot. A lot of knowns at UAB vs. going for 1 year of money and maybe being the third or 4th wheel.

AK has shown time and time again through his career he will let his best players shoot the ball until their fingers fall off. Yax's usage could be through the roof next year.

Also, Yax is very good, but he has a lot to work on. I don't think he's quite ready to make the jump to the NBA yet, but 100% has that potential. I would hate for him to go to a "big name" school and get lost in the shuffle.

Think about if he were able to develop a consistent jump shot and three point shot. He could be a first round draft pick. He's already a good set shooter, but Right now he has to be WIDE open for him to even think about shooting a jump shot. It takes him several seconds to get into his shooting motion and get a shot off. If he could develop a quicker, more confident jump shot, maybe off of one or two dribbles, wow... If he did that, and developed some kind of go to post move(s), instead of just barreling in for a layup attempt and getting the offensive rebound, the sky is the limit for him.

He's so good naturally, but still so raw also. He could be SO good with a full offseason in the system and then playing 35+ minutes a game for an entire season.

Maybe I'm making it too simplistic, but I'd view it as one year of money vs a potential 15 year NBA career worth of earnings..

I also believe that developing a consistent jump shot would send Yax’s prospects through the roof.
