Never give up- Wow! A tie rarely feels this good.

I have to say, for all the newfound respect i gained for uva watching their football team fight to the end, i just lost all of it watching their "futbol" team. Flop like the italian national team, constant dirty play, cry on every possession. They mucked the game up enough so multiple yellows were given out, least two just because of jawing to the ref. A red was given, and two more were swallowed. On one, their captain, sitting on a yellow, intenionally tripped a jmu player 4 full seconds after he got the pass off. I don't usually say this about college kids, but that team is trash.

They really exude the "snotty entitled kids" vibe that they should be working hard to avoid.

Pulled the Duke’s arse out of the fire. A tie is better than a loss (duh), however, the men didn’t play their best tonight. Perhaps the lackluster effort was partly due to the shenanigans of the opposition.

On a positive note, i loved the way jmu kept their composure (by my last post, you can tell I did not). We we outplayed them for most of the game. We did try to get too cute at times- rather than taking a shot, we sometimes passed ourselves out of a chance. All in all, a gritty performance by the dukes, though.

Think some of these sports will really benefit from SBC and nearby ACC schools. Soccer, Softball, Baseball, FH, and Lacrosse come to mind.

We have a very tight regional conference and proximity to P5 conference schools. Basketball, seems to be the next step up for SBC and JMU.

They should have had 2-3 RCs on UVA but the ref just let it go. UVA's association football team is just as crap as Gardner Webb.

I was thinking the same thing. That game was garbage and GW was trying to bring us down to their level. That game was a tie that felt like a loss.
This game, UVA did not outplay us and played a lot like GW, a team that knew they couldn't beat us with skill, so they scrapped out a tie. UVA scored early and didn't seem to trust their own skills and instead wanted a dirty game. It almost worked too. This was a tie that felt like a win.

I watched the last 15 minutes or so and the boys just would not quit, they were gassed, drenched in sweat, and they kept fighting and finally got that 'lucky bounce/poor clearing attempt by UVA' and stuck it in the back of the net.

I had been checking in about every 5 minutes. Didn't realize we were a man up for those last 5-6 minutes.
