I watched most of the game. Some of the non goals were more spectacular.

We had a nice bicycle kick in the first half that was stopped. A few minutes before we scored, there were two shot back to back SOGs (that were stopped) that were pretty impressive.

It seemed like UCLA controlled the ball prior to our goal, and we seemed to control play after we scored. Frequently things happen opposite to that.

UCLA was preseason #26, so we will likely get some votes on the next poll.

He was offsides, but since he didn't make an attempt to play the ball or interfere with the play (such as blocking a defender trying to catch up) it doesn't get called. Beautifully timed run by Kocso, and a perfectly weighted cross by Nikolai. And that header ain't easy to control either. Dukes could have (should have?) scored another one later on in the game to put it away, but a win is a win. UCLA is/was ranked 26 coming into the game and just dismantled VT 4-1 earlier in the weekend.

I like college soccer does not have that stupid stoppage time. They simply stop the clock when necessary like other sports so you know exactly how much time is left in a half/game.

Watched the first half last night. What a goal! Thanks for posting that clip! I don't see that he was offside; when the service went off the foot of Nikolai, Kocso had at least the one UCLA player ahead of him. And yes, I am a highly objective observer.

What was also great was watching UCLA getting rattled after our goal. Their goalie threw the ball at Arnold’s head before a corner and their guy shoved our goalie. JMU’s Men’s BBall had received tech’s for a lot less in the 2021 CAAT.

even though I am sure their coach told them that JMU can play, coming off a 4-1 win over VT they probably thought they had this game.

The fact that there was no yellow card after the goalie threw the ball at our player's head was laughable. I understand emotions can run high, but that is some bush league stuff and should have produced a caution.

Hurling a ball at someone's head could also be a direct red depending on the ref and how wreckless/or if there was intent. GK usually get the benefit of the doubt on cards though.

JMU is #1 in rpi and strength of schedule after starting 2-0. SBC is also ranked as the #1 men’s soccer conference. Great beginnings!

I think if he would have thrown it like a football/baseball (i.e., strong overhand) he should have been red carded. The GK chest passed it and it hit the side of the head/shoulder area of the JMU player, so it may be that he tried to hit the torso but missed, but either way it's a dangerous and unnecessary play and should have resulted in a yellow card.

I've watched that goal at least 20 times now... it was an absolute thing of beauty
