That's about all it does, handcuff poor MTSU. Since MAC wanted them as a pair, it blocks WKU there also, but not elsewhere.
MTSU was apparently compensated with $8m in exit fee cash. If they were smart, they'd stash some of that away so they can move if an invite they like comes.

They will probably give it to Stockstill as a bonus for going 6 & 6 this season.

Me too, but I don't think a 4-yr GOR in CUSA is going to keep LaTech, WKU and MTSU from doing whatever it is that they want to do. If something better comes along, dey gone.
Didnt MTSU just reject an offer from the MAC, which resulted in WKU being forced to stay in Judy-land too? MT had a chance for something better and didnt take it... screwing WKU in the process.
The MAC isn't better. If you look at basketball and baseball, they are worse than CUSA now. And if you look at where teams are projected in 2023, the average CUSA football team narrowly did better than the average MAC team. MAC has 9 of the worst 25 FBS stadiums, the lowest attendance of any conference, and cold weather games in November in Ohio and Michigan.
The MAC is head and shoulders above CUSA, not even close. The MAC is much more stable and has stronger leadership than CUSA. Every school in the MAC has an indoor training facility, which is not the case among current CUSA members.
You talk about baseball, yet Central Michigan knocked Liberty out of the Gainesville Regional last year.
Indoor training facilities are much more needed in the cold north than the warm south.
