Especially for someone who has a pro career just around the corner.

Our coaching of pitchers is extremely good. They know the players and use them accordingly. I do not believe we have had a pitcher injured seriously in some time. So there’s that.

Pretty sure he’d have been throwing on the side that day anyway.

He did essentially the same thing last year without nearly as much blowback.

Spent time in three different MLB organizations including scouting and player development. Even though it's been a long time ago I say that to make this point. There's a big difference between throwing on the side and live game action. Throwing on the side is stress free. No pitch clock. No batter. There's no crowd. There's a big difference. The biggest one to me is the pitch clock. I think in a couple of years we're going to see arm injuries occurring a much higher clip than historically speaking. Why? Less rest between pitches. Something you can do on the side but not in a game.

Even the type of innings pitched within a live game situation matter providing some parallels. The difference between high leverage or high stress innings vs. lower. For example, a pitcher that throws 90 pitches through six innings, faced 23 batters, and only had four baserunners has a very different impact than the one who threw 80 pitches in four innings and faced 20 batters.

This was seen in his outing yesterday where he faced 10 batters in just two innings, which is on par with the second example I listed above where he needed 30 pitches to get six outs. He wasn't as sharp. Moreover, he would not have been pitching at near max effort while throwing on the side.

Also, just FYI this is why a lot of organizations preferred to draft pitchers out of high school than college. Historically, there has been a concerns by scouts about overuse of college pitchers. Particularly the good ones because the team doesn't have the depth to win games further down the roster.

A lot has changed in the last few years regarding strength and conditioning along with motion physics to keep players healthy.

What? 38 home games and only 17 on the road? Why the NCAA allows this lopsided schedule I don’t know.

$EC is why they allow it. Whatever the $EC wants to do, they pretty much get told yes.

In all the research that’s been done, only 2 things have thus far been proven to correlate with UCL tears: workload and velocity. The kid who becomes the one his teams ride like a mule because he can get everybody out with a blazing fastball is the one you can bet will have issues. The old thought about limiting breaking balls is actually kinda backwards.

They are proud of that Clemson win and completely gloss over the fact that Charlotte with a 67 RPI also beat Clemson. Sure it is to their credit they won the Clemson regional but it doesn't mean they should host or that it is some big injustice. Given the results of the Clemson and Auburn regional we both should have hosted.

Also they are crowing about those midweek games as if it is a significant measuring stick when we all know the SEC schools looking for wins made sure they threw their better pitchers as they weren't going to get many in conference wins.

Lastly most of their fans don't seem to understand that both Universities issued bids for the host. Maybe ask their AD what their bid was and why it didn't secure them the host site? All of this was done before the regionals started.

The absolute meltdown of Tennessee fans is a sight to behold. Them complaining on their board is pure gold. They are saying it's just about $ and we gave them more money, plus the NCAA hates Tennessee and doesn't like them being a rising power. Several of their posters talking about how they are just the little guy trying to go against the powers that be. Just lol.

SEC ACC were really gifted Omaha by the committee:

$EC/$EC, Gainsville, FL
$EC/$EC, Baton Rouge, LA
@SSCC/@SSCC, Charlottesville, VA
@SSCC/$EC, Wake Forest, NC

The 2 conferences are guaranteed to makeup half of the Omaha teams. USM has the ability to assure them that they will not make up more than half of the Omaha field.

*Resurrected* power. OU QB Josh Heupel single handedly returned them to power. Nothing would make the world more happy than for Tennessee to win 4 games this fall but games against Austin Peay, UCONN, UVA and Vandy make that a tough task.

It's all about that $$..

USM averages 4687 per game.. UT averages 4230 per game.. And UT had more home games this season.

That number is from last year. This year, per NCAA stats website (LINK), we averaged 5,106 with a capacity of 4,300. Tennessee averages 4,298 with a capacity 4,283. So we average 823 more fans than Tennessee has stadium capacity.

I can honestly say that until last night, I had no idea the NCAA and ESPN had it in for Tennessee, but apparently that’s a thing in their minds.

Congrats on that! I look forward to the day JMU can truly field a team better than decades long .500 results.

You forget Harbor.. they were still kissing Auburn's ass and then realized, "oh we're out?.. we need to root for a different Orange."

Vols also have one of the smaller fields in baseball, which overly inflates their power numbers. Their offense is built to that park. I'm not sure how Pete Taylor plays, but my guess is it plays larger than a town a couple thousand feet above sea level in the Smokey Mountains.

Just a small scrappy P5 school taking on the big scary G5 school with a third if not less of Tennessee's budget.. What an underdog story for them fleabags.

Holy crap, are these Tennessee fans DUMB or what?

They're whining because USM DOESNT' have any tickets left to sell to the public, and they think we're keeping them from buying tickets?

I'm just curious.. economics and mathematics isn't on the curriculum at UofTN is it?
