Ugh. Hated to wake up to that final score. Sorry, Eagles. Pirate fans know this feeling FAR too well.

You put on a first-class Super Regional. Really nice ballpark and it was packed!

That means one thing! 2024 is the year of the Eagles!

I was thinking about it last night.. I'm hoping Oz reloads.. The bolded ones played this season (or the ones I can recall, I'm sure one of my Eagle brethren will correct any errors).. I'm sure several of the Jrs are gone..

Seniors:
Chris Sargent
Danny Lynch
Blake Johnson

Gabe Lacey
Reece Ewing

Juniors (Some may leave for the draft):
Braden Luke
Justin Storm
Handler Townes
Chandler Best
Tanner Hall
Luke Trahan

Billy Oldham
Brady Foust
Rodrigo Montenegro
Matt Adams
Dustin Dickerson

Isaiah Rhodes
Slade Wilks
Graham Crawford
Tate Parker
Matt Etzel

I believe Danny Lynch is said to join the staff next season as he wants to be a College Baseball Coach, and if so, I'm still sad he's gone, but also a little excited he'll be back in that capacity.

My concern is more along the lines of who's going to portal jump (like Dollander and TN)....but i've seen we've got a kick-ass starter (I think) coming in.. the DII player (pitcher?) of the year or something?

But anyway.. thanks Coach Berry, for the amazing run, and Coach Oz.. you've got some difficult shoes to fill!

On the hitting side, you have to believe whoever we put out there will be an upgrade over the Seniors we lose. I can't speak to their leadership in the locker room or dugout, but when our best Senior his .252, that's a huge issue. They were basically automatic outs at plenty of points this year, including when it mattered most.

Of the places you would not expect to find excitement for USM is Colorado Springs. I work with someone whose dad lived in the Hattiesburg his whole life until the family's recent move here, and another person from Hattiesburg. We talked about this series on breaks.
