Ugh!!
We're now getting once again blown out by A very average MAC team 25-43, Lost 66-85.

If we lose this game Heath will be 18-44 in his first two seasons, I realize after 10 seasons Murphy needed to go, but he at least won 30 games in his first two seasons, and A MAC west championship. Will Heath resign?

We're now getting once again blown out by A very average MAC team 25-43! Losing now 49-71!

This team made a valiant 6 game effort from 1/24 @Toledo to 2/11 VsToledo to try and salvage the season. They played real well. Only two wins but close games in the 4 losses.

But dropped off again after that for the last 6 games. Still 2 wins, but the 4 blowout losses. This game I just chalk up to the culmination of a very long and frustrating season.

I guess we can all go to bed early tonight. Bruno has NIU to go in the right direction. I am not sure what direction our program is headed but it hasn' made much progress in two years.

Wasn’t able to watch the game. Was it as bad as the box score looks?

Nice game from TyCuff though.

Pretty much. Out rebounded by 7 in the first half and another 7 the second half. Total of 14 boards.

Ever see that with a winning team?

Two years in a row now, rebounding has really hurt EMU. I don’t understand it, are the players too lackadaisical? Stone hands as Sam say? Do the defensive schemes keep them too far from rim?

Does that explain the lack of assists and defense?

Not that it matters, but Miami and Bowling Green both lost tonight. So had EMU won their NIU game, they would have made the 8th seed. What a shame- especially to have been beaten so handily. What a train wreck of a season.

Also, Eastern, Central, and Western in consecutive order were the bottom of the rankings this year. That is kind of wierd.

On the bright side, I think the MAC champion has a chance to win a game or 2 in the big dance. Looking forward to rooting for whoever represents us in March Madness, hands down my favorite sporting event!

Amen! …Although I am probably being disgustingly petty, but hope to God that Miami beats Toledo in the first round of the MAC. But will root for Toledo in the NIT or the NCAA whichever they end up in. Definitely a fun time of the year. Go MAC!!

And all first and second year coaches. It shows how downhill Michigan MAC teams have declined over the years. None of this programs will be easy rebuilds.

Hm could we be a two bid NCAA bid? Let's say Toledo wins the automatic does Kent St get a bid? They have the non conference chops.

Unfortunately, the answer is a clear no. Kent St dropped to #66 in the Net rankings which takes them out of even bubble standing.

There are probably somewhere between 15-20 teams that will make it with a lower ranking as a conference champion automatic bid. So the top 48-53 should make it. (It could be a team ranked #66 could still make it because they finished the season strong and would replace say a #45 ranked team that finished on a downward trend. But those beneficial considerations usually only apply to P5 teams)

But Kent St should be invited to the NiT if they don’t win the MAC tourney. Although, the NIT is more notorious for snubbing in favor of lower ranked P6 teams. Toledo has a #80 ranking, but regardless makes the NIT automatically as the regular season conference champion. So maximum MAC exposure, the best case scenario is that Akron or Ball St (or whoever else) to win the tourney for NCAA automatic bid. That way we have 1 NCAA bid and 2 NIT bids.

Considering the above and that Akron went last year, I am a Peyton Sparks fan for this MAC tourney. But that might give the MAC the least potential to make a run in the NCAA tourney.

Net rankings are skewed toward P5 schools. I believe Ohio, Akron, and Kent St would beat a bubble team like UofM if they played on their home or neutral floor.

FAU was like a good P6 school this year. Top 20 in the NET rankings most of the year. I am not surprised they are in the sweet 16. Wonder how they got so good in a year, think we beat them the year prior (was that the crazy 4 OT game?)

We beat FIU not FAU in that game.
