I don't want to start a new thread (but was tempted) as follows:

"Ignorance is bliss" How a poster basked in his 'ignorance' and talked up EMU's chances of claiming the 8th spot in the MAC MBB standings... I didn't have a clue until what 5 minutes before tip off?

"They were sick for a couple of days beforehand
But they played as much as they could last night"

So right about moving on. But I can't get over both Noah and Emoni not starting in the biggest game of the year. What message does that send? I'm speechless.

Whatever message the coach wants to send.

I would bet Noah and Emoni play their last game on Friday.

Was the coming off the bench a punishment? And the stomach flu thing was just a cover? Regardless, I would expect both players to have been real frustrated with this season. Can’t imagine either wanting to return.

That's the comment of the year/season! In my 35 years following EMU basketball, with the expectations of having A 5 star, and A 4 star this is the worst season I've ever seen/witnessed! What makes it so bad is we have been blown out in 6 MAC games as well! The whole team might return accept two is our only hope! We need A center, and A forward who can rebound, and alter shots! Even the Ramsey, Boone years weren't this bad, neither had anywhere near the talent! As Rob Murphy said we had D2 talent when I took over! On, A totally different note, Can Castro get the EMU women's team to Cleveland?

I'll repeat a thought I made in a different context:

I'm not a big fan of all the social media stuff like interviews with the coach, etc. which usually doesn't say much new 'news,' except those pre-game interviews.

The big story, and I'm not sure how to read between the lines, is the stomach bugs sitting in the GI system of the two star players.

I did NOT bet on the game (actually haven't bet on a college game since March Madness 2022) but who would like to bet on the game and discover something is running thru the EMU MBB locker room, maybe a bug or maybe something else.

Anyway, bug or bad behavior, whatever it was is history (especially if it was a bug) and say >95% chance the season will end Friday night (though as RameyEMU indicated we still have a mathematical chance Friday night - we win and MIA and BG both lose).

Lest I disappoint anyone here is how one might calculate the chance of us pulling a rabbit out of a hat:

The probability of three independent events ALL occurring is the product of the 3 separate probabilities (probabilities are my guesses. ESPN will have theirs Friday).

E.g., EMU has a 25% chance of beating NIU.
Maybe MIA has a 33% chance of beating UB in Buffalo.
BG maybe has a 33% chance of beating Ohio in Athens

So .25 x .33 x .33 = 3% chance (or don't make plans for next week in CLE unlike you like CLE in early March). I miss the days where I would go to San Clemente and hang my feet out on the balcony and Chad and Matt would give me a shout out on the air... Or the TOL game, semis which we lost in the last few seconds... :(

I pulled a brain fart on this post!! 01-lauramac2 01-lauramac201-lauramac2 01-lauramac2

EMU has say 25% chance of beating NIU.
And MIA and BG each has a 33% chance of beating their opponents, BUT where I pulled a brain fart.

The chance of EMU making CLE is:

EMU winning (.25) x MIA LOSING (.67) and BG LOSING (.67). Big difference!! This isn't a parlay where one wants EMU, MIA and BG all to win.

So multiplying those 3 one gets about an 11% chance.

Ah, I feel better. And how Emoni and Noah are feeling better.

I predict a time change will completely alter all of my mathematical thought on EMU's chance to make CLE. https://twitter.com/EMU_MBB/status/16313...74721?s=20

It now seems the game tomorrow will be at 1 p.m. EST. We lose and the BG and MIA games do not matter.

OTOH, if we win, then Friday night should be interesting for EMU fans.

EDIT: DeKalb expected to get 6 - 10" of snow between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.

If I’m Noah, I’m more frustrated because he avg 17 ppg last season and his production fell off this year. Noah plays hard on both ends of the court! I hope he comes back but….

Maybe that they need to work harder, be better teammates, play defense, show up for practice, who knows? You’re a basketball man, you should know better. There’s probably a very good reason for it. I’m not happy with Heath right now, but he can’t let the patients run the asylum. In my opinion, a lot of these guys aren’t coachable. I don’t blame Heath for trying to have some kind of boundaries.

We are a 5.5 point underdog today. And ESPN gives us 23% chance of winning.

ESPN gives BG and MIA much less chance.

Going O/T to make a point, generally to Miggy.

One of the strangest scheduling quirks I can remember, the Wizards play the Raptors TWICE IN 3 Days. Both in D.C.
So what does last night's game tell us about Saturday's game? We'll see. Will there be an similarities or will the games be 100% different????

I think this happens quite a bit now in the NBA. Pistons play the Pacers at home next week on the 11th and then again on the 13th. May be to limit some of the travel time?

Yeah, Sam, I think it is a feature 'not a bug.' And not bad to see the same team back to back. Easy to become more familiar with the opponent players seeing them back to back.

I think last year I saw the Wizards play 6ers say 3 days apart, but it was home and home. Crazy but the Wiz lost at home and then went up to Philly and beat the 6ers.

DEKALB, Ill. -- Due to travel issues and safety concerns, the Northern Illinois University men's basketball regular season finale against Eastern Michigan on Friday, March 3, has been brought forward to a 12 noon CT tipoff. Tickets for the originally scheduled 7 p.m. start will be honored and NIU will hold its Senior Day ceremonies following the game.

Totally dysfunctional offense.
Emonti is frustrated. He gets the ball late in the shot clock and has to throw up a prayer.

You just summed up our offense for the entire season! Dribble dribble dribble and then with 7 seconds left on the shot clock, one on one, and a very difficult shot! Heath's offense! Down 25-37 to A very average N Illinois team!

Halftime numbers suck. Shooting percentages poor and getting outrebounded by 7.

Ugh!!
