Difficult to even get mad about this team anymore. A few fun moments and a lot of really disappointing basketball. It is sports, everyone is going to be okay, I promise.
You captured it all! The enormity of this failure somehow makes it more bearable. Nothing to debate or regret or think about at all. Just time to move on. After all, it’s just sports as you suggest.
So right about moving on. But I can't get over both Noah and Emoni not starting in the biggest game of the year. What message does that send? I'm speechless.
Whatever message the coach wants to send.
I'll repeat a thought I made in a different context:
I'm not a big fan of all the social media stuff like interviews with the coach, etc. which usually doesn't say much new 'news,' except those pre-game interviews.
The big story, and I'm not sure how to read between the lines, is the stomach bugs sitting in the GI system of the two star players.
I did NOT bet on the game (actually haven't bet on a college game since March Madness 2022) but who would like to bet on the game and discover something is running thru the EMU MBB locker room, maybe a bug or maybe something else.
Anyway, bug or bad behavior, whatever it was is history (especially if it was a bug) and say >95% chance the season will end Friday night (though as RameyEMU indicated we still have a mathematical chance Friday night - we win and MIA and BG both lose).
Lest I disappoint anyone here is how one might calculate the chance of us pulling a rabbit out of a hat:
The probability of three independent events ALL occurring is the product of the 3 separate probabilities (probabilities are my guesses. ESPN will have theirs Friday).
E.g., EMU has a 25% chance of beating NIU.
Maybe MIA has a 33% chance of beating UB in Buffalo.
BG maybe has a 33% chance of beating Ohio in Athens
So .25 x .33 x .33 = 3% chance (or don't make plans for next week in CLE unlike you like CLE in early March). I miss the days where I would go to San Clemente and hang my feet out on the balcony and Chad and Matt would give me a shout out on the air... Or the TOL game, semis which we lost in the last few seconds... :(
