CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina baseball erased a 9-3 deficit with an eight-run inning and scored 16 unanswered runs to defeat the Little Rock Trojans 19-9 in seven innings on Sunday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium.

The win completed the Sun Belt Conference series sweep for the Chanticleers, their fourth of the season.

CCU moved to 29-15-1 overall and 16-7-1 in Sun Belt play with the win, while the loss dropped Little Rock to 21-22 and 9-14 in league action.

Thanks. ODU has a good group of guys that like playing baseball together. We will miss a lot of them that will be moving on after this season (seniors).

ODU is missing a couple of key guys as well due to injuries - their starting 2B (Dengler .367 hitter) and their closer (Dean 19.2 innings, 38 SO). Haven't heard if either will be back to play again this season. You also may have noticed that our catcher (Gagliardi) didn't exert himself running the bases. He injured his hamstring last weekend and frankly I was surprised to see him playing at all against Southern Mississippi.

It was a fun series of games to watch played by two solid teams. Good luck in the games this week.

The top four teams, Texas State, Georgia Southern, Louisiana and Coastal, have all gone a combined 42-6 in league games over the last four weeks. And three of those losses were in the GaSo/Coastal series. All four got sweeps this weekend.

I watched all three games this weekend. The home plate umps for Friday and Sunday were brutal. Check the CoastalFans.com twitter account for three screenshots on Friday that were called strikes to CCU batters when the ball was on the "chalk" of the other batter's box. Saturday wasn't too bad. Sunday the ump was bad again, but equally bad for both teams.

Yep. When I played, I didn't care if the strike zone was a 28-sided modern art masterpiece. But just make sure it's the same weird shape all day.

No. Flat out wrong. Players shouldn't have to adjust to anything. The strikeout is established by rule, not by what the umpire wants to it be.

Not to say they weren't balls, but showing screen shots of the ball in the glove doesn't help.
