I think this is the best move for all involved. Add Missouri State as a 10th and we’ll have a very strong conference. The AAC and SBC took a lot of our dead weight.

With 14 members it's much easier to schedule regionally for Olympic sports.
Strongly disagree. KEEP IT SMALL. One autobid in basketball is better shared by 10 teams than it is by 14. With 10 you will play every team home and home and have a true regular season champion. 10 is good.
I'm worried (if MT stays) that C-USA will get saddled with UALR and UT-A
Don't do the Sunbelt any favors. Make them stay in the Sunbelt.

WKU

Jacksonville St
FIU
Liberty
I like it a lot!

I would guess the next cfp payout will max at 12 programs per conference.
Another reason to go to 12 is for more broadcast content

Plenty of good options out there to get to 14, specially if the additional 4 fill in the middle of the conference. Besides the new C-USA might be a 2 bid league in most years.

Do not become the new ODU in this version of CUSA. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how this new version will turn out.
Not to start anything, but what did we do?? (Genuinely just curious. Seen us mentioned negatively a lot recently)
ODU was disgruntled from the start in CUSA. Marshall and Southern Miss. were disgruntled due to being passed over so many times.

That looks fine for football. It doesn't matter in basketball and baseball though, right? Basketball just went to divisions last year for Covid, I believe. I don't see any issues if we keep the number of teams in CUSA low, no more than 10 or 12 for football. We could pull some good basketball and baseball schools though. Looking at you DBU for baseball.
You wouldn't have to do divisions. When we played in the ten team WAC, there was an informal east/west split and you played your half every year and missed one of the other half on a rotating basis. I'd personally rather have 9 than 10 but I understand that ten is better for basketball.

Content has a lot of value, especially if ESPN is involved in the next contract, think ESPN+.

SBC should be the new best friend for C-UCA fans, you have no idea how much they actually helped this conference.
AAC not so much!

RE: Oh, well
If true, I am excited to keep both in CUSA. AAC may come calling for MTSU eventually, but until then, we get to have some solid football and fantastic basketball in a few seasons.
We have been wanting to go to Nashville and now this gives us an excuse to travel over yonder. Probably wont play football at MTSU for awhile, but we will see.
The MAC is like my wife: doesnt like change.

These two posters don't get it!
Keep your conference small (9-10).
Less mouths to feed. That is how the SBC did it-- they are still at ten and will be for two more years.
CFP money, NCAA units, Media (what little there is) all will be split fewer ways. Only sixteen BB games saves on travel and allows you to schedule more geographically friendly games.
AND... You can always add later... when and who you want. There should be no FOOLISH rush to add any more FCS teams at this point. Take a breath!

Seems very "MAC like" to fail to complete an expansion.
Some presidents don't want the competition.

That’s where I’m at…10 max right now with a potential Missouri State add. If we lost WKU/MTSU then I would’ve looked to the Dakotas but not now.

La Tech, Liberty, WKU, MTSU, UTEP, FIU, and the call ups. Call me nuts but it is not half bad. Sam Houston will need to upgrade their football stadium pretty quickly but that is the only red flag I see. U guys Just need a better tv deal.

From the little communication that we've had, our AD has been adamant about keeping the "new" CUSA small (less mouths to feed)

Will still have Judy and stuck in crappy media deals. Cannot wait to see Ray Harper again. What a cluster this conference is going to be. Only hope we move in 5 years when we have 3 more FCS Texas call ups..
