Marshall fans thoughts are that the Sun Belt may be able to bring Kentucky, WVU, FIU, and UCF to the Sun Belt to make a premier soccer league that would rival the ACC.

I think right now they would have 2 in the top 25 with another 2 sitting barely outside of it. 4 top 25 teams would definitely put them up there.

Ive heard that WVU is looking at their options. They havent officially joined CUSA yet. They are scheduled for next year. I wouldnt doubt at all they pull out and move to Sunbelt... which would make me think that UCF would go there also since they are both Big 12.

Clearly talking about current C-USA, not a future C-USA, which likely wont exist.

NO... Marshall was not what held C-USA afloat, with the new additions C-USA will survive, and at first glance it might be a decent conference.

Pretty sure he was talking about CUSA soccer not the conference as a whole. Of the existing and rumored teams only FIU and Liberty sponsor men’s soccer so it’s very likely they won’t sponsor it starting in 2023.

Ok, good point... I basically left it as an option between AAC and SBC because I don't think ACC is open to additions If the are then both AAC and SBC will probably out of the running.

I think the safe assumptions we can make now are

1. CUSA Soccer is on life support and the affiliates aren’t likely to stay there.

2. The ACC doesn’t have any affiliates and won’t start now.

3. KY/USC & WVU/UCF are likely both package deals as conference mates like to stay together. Very possible all 4 work together.

The AAC should aggressively pursue KY, SC and WVU to join as affiliate members. Keep UCF in the fold too if they are a good team. For the same reason Aresco took the TX schools, take these schools to keep the Belt in its place. Offer Marshall a spot as an affiliate. I don't care what they say on the message boards, they would wet themselves at the chance to get a foot in the door here.

LMAO....UK and WVU will follow Marshall to the SBC. There is no chance they go to the AAC.

If we have learned nothing else from this realignment cycle, we certainly know that you have no sources. You have predicted ever possible outcome under the sun, and of course, most of them have been completely wrong. But you predicted them enthusiastically, so there is that.

Can you provide a link to anything that is not a message board showing that UK, SC or WVU is taking soccer to the SB? Until that exists this is all just more bloviation.

Actually....the ONLY true prediction I made from sources was Marshall/So Miss/ODU/JMU to the SBC. I made my post on the JMU board about this well before ANYONE was tweeting or talking about it.

I did give my opinion on other things, but I NEVER said any of it came from "sources."

As for UK/WVU/USC....they are going to the SBC and you can take it to the bank. That info is from credible sources. I've also been told there's a great chance UCF joins the SBC for soccer as well.

With the MAC likely dropping to 4 teams, might as well scoop up Akron and FIU to make it 12

Akron
WVU
MU
UK
JMU
ODU

USC
CCU
GSU
GS
UCF
FIU

That’s a power league.

RE: Lets talk SOCCER - UCF
not certain why this got moved to off topic, especially since it is partially about UCF who is still a member and the AAC.

I know that normally we dont allow departing members to store any sports in our conference, but the only precedent we have is Uconn and it was football. We dont exactly want teams to think they can leave and use us BUT... in this case, I think we should offer UCF and WVU a spot in the AAC. Then we try to lure Kentucky and SCarolina.

Soccer isnt a money making sport yet, but as digital streaming services get more and more into carrying sports, having more solid inventory isnt a bad thing and there is alot to say about associating with those you want to be compared to. It may just be soccer, but having SEC and Big 12 teams playing in your conference also is a positive, even if its only perception.

If teh MAC drops soccer, let them go to the Sunbelt but I would be heavily recruiting those 4 teams to come to the AAC.

It got moved because people now realize that WVU/UK/South Carolina are all going to choose the SBC over the AAC.

I have no idea where UCF ends up, but I expect them to be in the SBC as well.

No such ting as a power league in Olympic sports, but that is definitely a good group.

Because it's all speculation and zero fact from a conference that doesn't even sponsor the sport yet on the AAC board, not sure how any of that is AAC related other than its speculating about a departing memeber.

Because if they get those four affiliates they'll be a good soccer league 03-lmfao
Never mind with out those adds they're Marshall and five randoms meaning there really isn't any thing to encourage those affiliates to go there, except those long bus rides through the Appalachian Mountains.

I would say that FAU,Charlotte,UAB and FIU all move to AAC this year making it 10 teams for 2022 with UCF moving to SBC once it leaves for Big12.

yeah i'm sure UCF accepted the invite to the SBC and it just hasn't been made public yet. we were the only one not looking for a home in 2022.
