Any timeline on this? Weeks? Months?

I would be a lot more interested in joining the SBC if WKU/FAU/So Miss were coming with us.....but I didn't think the SBC wanted to expand to 14?
I think everything has changed since playoff expansion and NIL were put on the table. It also appears that ESPN has a hand in all of this and favors the SBC and AAC so if they want 14, you go to 14. A guaranteed playoff spot is a real possibility for the G5 so why not make sure you have the strongest on the field product since the TV money reduction in going to 14 is pretty small?

I would expect announcements by theSun Belt before football season is over. That way the new teams are playing in the Belt in 2023

Would the Belt take a former member back?
What a strange trip these last few months have been for the belt. I’m glad people are recognizing what we have all known for the last few years about our football league. Changing perception takes time but it’s happening.

JMU or ODU and Marshall in the east and Southern Miss and WKU in the west would be good additions to the Belt.
I think you have to have uneven expansion in terms of east/west so that Troy moves west. That means 3 in the east and 1 in the west if you go to 4. So it would be Southern Miss in the west and WKU would have to go east, which actually fits with JMU/ODU/Marshall.

No to JMU and ODU, why do people keep pushing JMU so much, why go after an FCS that 90% of the country has never heard of when we could add an existing FBS they 15% have heard of???

Not a fan of softball? Cause if you even mildly follow the sport or happened to have turned on ESPN last summer then you’re likely to know of JMU. Or FCS Football. Granted neither of those have huge audiences but plenty of people have heard of JMU.

I'll admit my biases. I live in MO now, and spent several years in TN, but grew up in Virginia, and many several of my friends went to JMU.

Imo, James Madison will be the next Appalachian State, or at least have similar FBS success. Adding solid FCS programs is what propelled the SBC to the point it is today. If expanding to 14 I would not leave them on the board for CUSA to take. Regardless, I am happy with Marshall and Southern Miss being the only 2 added.

To the OP…no.
This stadium has a no re-entry policy.

Some of this is resolving itself. However, I don't think we'd add WKU/FAU if we did go to 14.
FAU's biggest advantage is Florida, but there's a difference between wanting to make inroads in the Panhandle and down in South Florida.

What if I told you that you don’t need a conference mate in Florida to cross the boarder and recruit there.
We don’t need the F_U’s…at all…period. The only team in Florida worth getting is USF and that’s IF a 12 team conference with USM and Marshall elevates to the point of somehow luring ECU and a resurgent USF.
