Child tax credit wouldn't be so bad if it was for people in poverty only. But since Trump raised the income limit to something like 80-100k, it's a total joke.

What's more important is voting rights. If Republicans aren't checked on their authoritarnism in one way or another, we'll be another Russia or China in 5-10 years. Hopefully the reality of the situation continues to be exposed in Congress next year to finally put it to bed or at least counteracts the threat for awhile, even if no voting rights bill gets passed.

Yeah, sure. It is always the dems that fight against election integrity measures. Tell us some more fiction, like just HOW the GOP is weakening voting rights. Don't just regurgitate the left talking points....dazzle us with your brilliance and explain it in your own words, if you have that capability.

Oh and ICYMI, we are already looking more and more like those two countries due to President Dementia and his policies. He's owned lock, stock and barrel by the Chinese.

Conservative media avoids reporting on anything that is being revealed in Congress or in court about the Jan 6th attack and the behind the scenes coup attempt. So obviously you're clueless to the reality of the situation. The same actors who tried to perpetuate the coup are the ones being put in charge of elections in several swing states.

There's certainly an argument there's paranoia on both sides, until you realize it's only the Republicans who are against a bi-partisan voting rights compromise bill to restore faith and integrity in the election system. Republicans won't even come to the table. You really have to ask yourself why a party claiming so much fraud in our elections is so against even coming to the table to try to restore faith in democracy.

This has to be a troll. There is no way you could possibly be this stupid.

He of course is a troll. His only purpose in posting is to keep other posters - - those who actually care about what is best for our nation - - off balance and to cause them take their eye off the ball.

Sadly for scorpius, and for the several other since-disappeared posters from this forum, it no longer is enough to obstruct the conversation. Why? Because the agenda on the left is failing even without any coherent opposition from the right. Even Donald Trump looks intelligent compared to what is being said and done by the left.

Progressive Democrats have been shown to be exactly as ignorant, grasping and underhanded as those on the right have been saying all along. All that the left has at its rhetorical disposal are lies. Scorpius is simply one of the few who seems to enjoy the experience of being repeatedly shown up as dishonest and wrong.

You can't have rational discussion with idiots like scorp. He thinks it was a freaking coup. That's all you need to know.

A bunch of morons playing dress up, breaking into the Capitol Building armed with cell phones to take selfies...staging a coup. That's hilarious.

This is so true. I know a bunch of moderate liberals who loathe Trump who are ready for the Democrats to lose power next November.

Define bipartisan.

It's unconstitutional for the federal government to dictate to the states how they vote. "Restore faith and integrity," what does this mean? Talk about zero substance, just say what the Democrats want instead of this double speak.

So it looks like the House will, at long last, vote for BBB today. But even then, our poor bill still won’t be a law. He’s just a bill, he’s only a bill, sitting there on Capitol Hill, waiting for Sinema and Joe Manchin to cut his @ss even more.

That’s essentially what we were talking about 5 months ago when this thread started.

They've already signed off on most of it. I think paid family leave is mostly what Machin objects to. So that might take a haircut. But once reality sets in that we are the only industrialized country without it, I think he'll come through on even that. Sad part is that this bill doesn't even take us to the average paid family leave of the rest of the world. It's just a token amount. Yet Republicans are demonizing it as "extreme" spending. Incredible!

I'm wrong maybe 10% of the time, if that, but this is not one of those times. I might have been wrong on the timing, but the important parts of the BBB plan has always had Manchin support. It will pass this year and Republicans are PISSED! They are now threatening to sabatoge the Chips Act (to build semiconductor factories in the U.S), the PACT Act (to support disabled veterans sickened by chemicals in the military) and the Respect for Marriage Act (to make sure the Guardian Council doesn't restrict that right as well). This is not going to play well just ahead of mid-terms, and this is before even considering the Nixon style Jan 6th investigation and the devil that was unleashed on the Republicans when the Guardian Council got rid of Roe.

So are Progressives (pseudonym). They are more for breakdown and chaos in society hence the term Regressives fits them better.

Also, I’ll repeat a point I’ve made before, that there are other Dem. Senators who privately approve of what Manchin/Sinema are doing and are encouraging them to hold firm, but don’t want to catch any of the flak themselves.

But I guess we’ll see.

I actually like Manchin. No need to troll him. He is the one who put common sense into the Dem's Voting Rights bill. The fact he came up with his own "compromise" tells me he is smart enough to know something must pass on this, with or without the GOP. That's why I think at the end of the day, Manchin/Sinema will do a one time exception to the fillabuster on that issue alone. And I believe it has to be by September so it can fully effect the 2022 election cycle.

Dumb de Dumb dumb 04-coffee

Recession? What recession? Okay, here's another prediction. There will be no recession while Biden is President. This reminds me of 2015 or so when Republicans tried to convince everyone we were in a recession and it all turned out to be a mirage. Or when they tried to convince everyone we were on the verge of bankruptcy back in 2012 or so and was so convincing they even got our debt rating downgraded for the first time in history. But of course that all turned out to be a mirage as well. So much so that every piece of the token deficit reduction bill that was passed back then was later taken back.
