Me too, but I think it's unreasonable to think he'll get any significant minutes in the first half of this season, if at all. For him as with all freshmen, he's now playing against bigger, faster, stronger players, and there's an adjustment period.

My opening day lineup:
1. Covington
2. Kochera
3. Carroll
4. Blair
5. Harvey

Harvey over Wight? Based entirely on who recruited who, I would expect Wight to continue to get the starting job.
I base it on the emphasis on defense. Harvey is one of the best rim protectors in the CAA and is physically more equipped to operate inside. Wight is the superior scorer, but that isn't an issue from the other 1-4 positions. Wight will play a lot and be an important piece, but I think an improved (fingers crossed) Harvey in the starting lineup makes for a more dynamic lineup.

I agree with you on Harvey & Wight's relative skillsets. I don't think they've changed that much since last year though, and Wight got the nod then.

Wight was Kemp's recruit when he was at Ohio and that carried over to the Tribe. Not sure if that matters, but Fischer wasn't the lead on the recruiting of Wight.

While Harvey is awesome on D and rebounding, he still has not developed a consistent grasp of the offense

Unless Hatton is getting meaningful minutes (15+), I'd love to see him redshirt. If he's being Harvey & Wight, there's no sense losing eligibility for 5 minutes of court time this year. Save his eligibility and let him make an impact for 4 full years.

Hatton is physically bigger than, both, Wight and Harvey, and displays very good post positioning in his senior year highlights. Plus, he appears comfortable using either hand around the rim. Unless Wight and/or Harvey have made significant jumps from last year, I think Hatton may be starting before season's end. If he displays his sister's prowess, he may have immediate impact. Would be nice to see Wight be able to play the 4 spot, and give us the flexibility for a big line-up. A lot of unknowns in the CAA with all of the transfers.

I wouldn't have guessed he's bigger (height and weight) than both Harvey & Wight. If Hatton gets significant minutes, that's a really good sign of things to come for this team.

I never think of Harvey has "only" 6'9'' because of his huge wingspan. And Wight is only 205lbs...25 pounds less than Hatton.

I would expect Hatton to get some play but he's very raw and if he only got spot minutes it wouldn't upset me, until proven otherwise. Redshirting him would be nice but I don't think we have the clout for that (Rowley and Wight are the last two I remember, and Hatton was a high-level recruit than each).

You guys are still high on Milkereit. I still have zero evidence he's good. I'm sure he will indeed play at the beginning because the backcourt bench is Ayesa, Hermanovskis and a couple freshmen. If he's one of our five best players over the first ten games, I will eat a cotton ball.

You know that Jake had knee surgery in his senior year of high school and was barely out of rehab last year, right? Most of the encouraging posts about him are referencing a return to physical form that was not on display last season.

I'm aware. I expect him to improve and think he has much room to do so. He also shot 24% from the field, one of the worst numbers in the country. He wasn't really "good" at much of anything, although serviceable at some things in flashes. Most guys with this profile never become impact players.

I hope I'm wrong. Sometimes I am. I never thought Luke Loewe was going to become a high-level talent at any point during his first two years. He was also recovering from injury coming in; perhaps there is a path.

My company has an office in Hawaii and I have contended for decades that the state operates like it is a separate country. I guess that Jake agrees with me!!

Anybody have any inside dope on the timeline for basketball ticket distribution? I imagine they're still wrestling with capacity issues, among other things. Please oh please don't start another covid thread here. I'm just hopeful and excited about getting back to the Kap. First home game is only six weeks away!

Interesting that the article mentions our transfer Carroll plus Rice and Hatton but not Lewis.
