Well-written and, more importantly, very honest. Refreshing.

Mary Freaking Baldwin! 03-lmfao Seriously thought that that was a women’s college. This has to be one of the easiest non conference schedules in school history. Every game on this schedule should be winnable besides Wake. Better start the conference season with a lot of W’s.

Winnable, maybe, but I'm not sure about all of the wins. Davidson, Valpo, GA State, Radford, High Point, and ODU aren't gimmies.

I'm absolutely hoping for the best, and think we will surprise. But if going off end of last season kenpom rankings and various oddsmakers, we are probably the underdog in the majority of these OOC games. Winnable, yes, but very few that are a sure thing.

I'm a little confused. Is Tribester just pretending to be optimistic now so that he can grumble about the team not meeting his expectations later in the season?

No, he's complaining about the scheduling. The complaining isn't as straightforward as usual. If the OOC was full of ACC teams, he'd complain about "how is this supposed to help a team start a season?" This is just the opposite side of the same always-unhappy coin.

If I'm being honest, I think most of our opponents are looking at us and thinking it's a winnable game...

Yeah, I think he’s gonna be our starting 3/wing and have a huge year.

I was very impressed with how much he has improved physically, especially his lower body.

IMO, I think Jake slides into that 6th man role. I envision Brandon Carroll at the 3. Jake very well could start though. Competition and depth are good things.

My opening day lineup:
1. Covington
2. Kochera
3. Carroll
4. Blair
5. Harvey

Yeah, that’s a good call on Carroll. Competition and depth are great and make all better and we need that. I think we have an incredibly solid 10 guys who all could see time and/or compete for playing time. Jake would make for an awesome 6th man. Wouldn’t mind seeing a small ball lineup at times with he and Carroll at the forwards and Blair at the 5.

If you take your proposed starting 5 and add to that Rice, Milkereit, Lewis, Hatton and Wight, that’s another 5 who could and will compete for time if not starts. Those two groups in practice against each other are actually pretty evenly matched. Throw in the really athletic Thatcher Stone and that’s 11 guys who could get run. I think Rainers and Ayesa will struggle for time though Miguel could come in for a heat check occasionally. I think just watching Rice vs. Yuri each day in practice would be a lot of fun :).

I think we’re gonna be much better than the pundits think we will be as we continue growing and play gong together. I think we will have really good chemistry which will be a huge asset. Pumped for the season!

Harvey over Wight? Based entirely on who recruited who, I would expect Wight to continue to get the starting job.

I base it on the emphasis on defense. Harvey is one of the best rim protectors in the CAA and is physically more equipped to operate inside. Wight is the superior scorer, but that isn't an issue from the other 1-4 positions. Wight will play a lot and be an important piece, but I think an improved (fingers crossed) Harvey in the starting lineup makes for a more dynamic lineup.
