I'm going to affectionately refer to this game as the Maldonado game. Big boy finally came in clutch. Still a shame we couldn't hold onto the last night but at least we've got the series coming back to Houston. Lets go!
Great baseball game, if a little sloppy. Credit to the Astors for hanging in there and coming back when they could've just folded after the grand slam. Felt like maybe the door was closing. Disagreed with Snitker bringing Davidson back for 3rd inning (and letting him hit in B2nd instead of pinch hitting for him.) Understand he wanted to get more from him, but 2 innings pitched and only 2 runs allowed for a guy who has basically not pitched all season due to injury was a little greedy of him. Minter, who has been stellar most of postseason, finally had a bad outing, which is understandable. Astors did what they needed to and showed more patience than Braves. Braves also uncharacteristically bad in field this Series, unlike Season and their first two series where they had a total of 1 error for both MIL and LAD combined.
Houston gets several boosts from this deserved win: they came back from a big deficit; they go back home; they don;t have to visit the chop house any more this year; they only need to win two in a row instead of three.
Looking at the series so far, Have to be happy Braves split first two in HOUston, and then came back home and took two of three. Realistically couldn't have asked for more. Good news for Braves is they have two actual stating pitchers for the final two games (barring injury). I don;t think you'll hear either Max Fried or Ian Anderson say they'd rather not pitch. Those guys want the ball, even though Max hasn't been his best this series. It's gonna be a wild finish to the Series and the year. Hope game is fun for both, but hope Braves can get some magic going and accomplish a Miracle World Series Win that by all rights they were totally unexpected even to be in, much less have a chance to win. Astors are a great team this year, and will be interesting to see how their players handle the off season with the new CBA and all the expiring contrats. Braves just need to re-sign Freeman, and we have Ronald Acuna and (hopefully, finally) Mike Soroka coming back next season, plus Charlie Morton should be healthy.
Important point: Game 5 would have been pitched by Charlie Morton has he not gotten hurt, and with the opening Grand Slam by Duvall, let's just say it is highly likely Braves would be celebrating the Series victory today with a parade instead of another plane trip to H-town. Oh, well, things happen and gotta play what's dealt to you. Both teams have overcome adversity and both are playing well. Great series. Hate that it has to end this week.

Greinke is a weirdo and may not even talk to his teammates.
their reaction on Saturday in game 4 when he got his 1st hit was pretty darn cool. I think he knows this might be it for him so I think he's soaking all this in.
I hope we can just win it tonight so I an try to get back on my regular schedule. Most of my friends that have been following and watching the playoffs are near-zombies. I don't know why baseball has to start after 8pm on a Sunday night. These games should be starting at 7pm at the latest. I don't mind a 4 hour game with strategy and some back and forth in the postseason if it starts earlier.

Thank you, Houston was a worthy opponent and played very well as well. Braves beat three very good teams to earn their victory this year. And unlike the dogers, it wasn't an asterisk of a shortened season, or tainted in any other way. This world Series win for the Atlanta Braves was about as pure as you could get from as close to a total team effort and organizational effort top to bottom as I have ever seen. Tough to watch Ronald Acuna, Jr. who was cheering, but dying to play and couldn't. Much as I would have liked to win it at home on Sunday, something extra satisfying to know that the last sounds that will be echoing through Minute Maid Park and in the city of Houston all winter into the spring are the Tomahawk Chant and Chop of the 2021 World Champion Atlanta Braves! Congrats, fellas, you certainly deserved it and beat three of the best teams in the playoffs this year to earn it!

Former big leaguer Trevor Plouffe pegged this exact outcome back on March 31. That's right: Before the season ever began, Plouffe said that Atlanta was going to defeat Houston in six games:
Atlanta Braves over the Houston Astros in 6.
