love that 6 weeks from Thursday is opening day. Hopefully the early part of the season is better than it's been weather wise given later start date of Apr 1. Just think starting late March is so foolish.

RE: MLB 2021 Thread
I just hope we don't see a bunch of pitchers injuries here in the next week or so. Do wonder with guys who didn't pitch at all in 2020 if we're going to see a big uptick in those early injuries in 2021...

thought this was interesting

Were the Braves involved at all? If they were, it's kind of telling that he viewed the Padres stronger than the Braves.

The Padres are stronger. The only reason to argue the Braves have a better chance of winning is that the Braves, not having the Dodgers in their division, are more likely to win their division and (assuming the 2019 playoff format) avoiding the one-game wild card playoff crapshoot.

RE: MLB 2021 Thread
ESPN had a column tonight about the Tatis deal and all it means...

This question:
Which young star could be next to get a megadeal like Tatis' contract?

thought this was a really interesting answer:
Schoenfield: Soto makes sense. Max Scherzer, 36, will be a free agent after 2021, and if the Nats do bring him back, it will be on a short deal given his age; so they need to keep Soto as that superstar face of the franchise. How about Cody Bellinger and the Dodgers? He isn't a free agent until after 2023, but if Seager leaves after this season, they might want to lock up Bellinger to a long-term deal.

Thought the answer with Bellinger was really interesting. What do you think Brookes?

Stever, I think this is the year where the NL East will be the back and forth daily battle between teams everyone's been expecting for the last few years now. Pitching staffs and most teams are loaded. I like my team, of course, but pretty much every team in East is in it to win it this year...at least until the Metz implode as per usual, right!?

Braves will be fine. Better one year too early, "and everything else like that" to borrow a hockey phrase!
