RE: Ginsburg Passes Away
Trump needs to place a nominee in front of the Senate tomorrow, and get that person confirmed before November. The left can't go more crazy than they already have.

Maybe now Joe would be forced to say who he would pick.
Really? I guess I wasn't entirely in the know.

That would be hilarious, and President Trump could act like he is being extremely magnanimous just prior to the election.

RE: Ginsburg Passes Away
Trump and McConnell need to get on the stick. We need this done quickly. Another hardcore Conservative.... would prefer someone from the Far Right to offset the wacko Liberals on the court. This needs to happen like yesterday.
Get it done before the election. Insurance against Joe, Kamala, Chuck and Crazy Nancy working overtime to steal the election.
This is an opportunity to bring the Nation back from the edge of socialist oblivion.

rushing one through might actually be the only thing that increases turnout on the other side.
Rushing it through might depress the turnout. Leaving it open will fire them up.
Agree. If we leave it for after November 3rd the Demons will try to screw Trump up by coming out in troves just so they can get the SC judge. Doing it now might deflate them and make them no really caring...or as much.

Sorry to hear of her passing and my condolences to her family and friends. Now I wonder how long it will take for a CNN or MSNBC source to say that Trump had her killed. Nothing they do surprises me anymore,

If Trump/McConnell force a nominee through, the new Democratic Senate/President will have no choice but to expand the court by four.
McConnell Stole a seat from Obama. Scalia died a full YEAR before the election.
Anyone supporting an Appointment before the election is an anti-American, anti-Democracy FASCIST TRAITOR.
The anti-American FASCISM on this thread is disgusting.
No real American would ever support Trump.

Hey, just because you have Democratic Socialist Party in front of your partys name doesn't make you Democratic. I hope just to P's you off that they do nominate a SC judge IMMEDIATELY. So that we can see your sweet tears on this board.

Agree on all counts, in spite of any disagreements I may have with her legal opinions I have the utmost respect for her as a person and what she means for a lot of people. May she rest in peace, prayers for her family.
Gotta say I didn't see 2020 throwing this twist, but I'm not surprised. If we thought this year has been politically toxic then just wait for the next forty or so days. Imo Trump will nominate a woman (likely Amy Coney Barrett).
Worth noting that it's pretty clear that McConnell's "give the people a voice" in 2016 was B-S as soon as he spoke it, it's pretty obvious they had the Senate majority and didn't want to fill it based on the hope that Trump would win (and there were a half dozen or so precedents for a similar situation playing out in early American history). With that in mind, filling the vacancy now isn't an apples-to-apples situation since the president's opposing party isn't in power. Assuming he moves forward to replace RBG I'd expect we hear calls from mainstream Democratic political figures to ditch the filibuster so they can add seats to the SCOTUS if they win the election, though that has plenty of electoral consequences in and of itself.
