Plus he doesn't have the votes. He won't have Manchin who can claim the 2016 precident, they dont have Lisa M, do you think, Collins is in an election battle, plus there is Romney.
Keep the moral high ground and use it as an election issue like you did in 2016
As long as Mitch knows he has 50 votes, the nominee goes through before the election.
He needs to do it either way. Gloves off. Cards on the table. Expose the weaklings before the election. Piss the Trump faithful off. Make em get out and vote.

RE: Ginsburg Passes Away
Condolences to her family. I disagreed with her often but respected her. She was quite a character and a real legend in her time.
I don't believe her death makes much difference. Trump is going to win and will be able to seat someone else in her place. I expect however that they will push to get this done before the election if they can. The Dems cant filibuster anymore(buy their own rule) so they really don't have a way to stop it if the GOP Senate stands united and pushes it.

Hope the list didn't come from the same people who recommended Roberts or Kavanaugh. Do some extreme vetting. Can't afford to screw this one up.

LOL...This is pretty much what I was thinking and honestly...The best thing you can do either way is select a moderate. The SCOTUS is a club and once on it they tend to fool the hell out of everyone with decisions. I think they become very good friends and respect each other. That lends to surprise votes. We have seen this over and over. Just pick a moderate and let them do their thing. It will probably be the best for the country in the long run.

50/50 Pence is tiebreaker. Dems would do it.
No Romney, No Collins, No Lisa M, No Manchin
51 votes against moving forward
Don't try. Use this to come across as the bigger person and throw the gauntlet to the voters.
Excuse me? Manchin's not a Republican, lol. Without the first 3, it's a 50-50 tie, and Pence breaks it, afaik, unless there is some procedural vote that doesn't allow the VP to break ties.

Someone said Graham had made remarks about opposing an October appointment in 2018, he's the judiciary chairman and is in a tight race.

True, but as someone has already listed, it doesn't have to be next Monday. While the middle finger salute is tempted, it needs to be balanced against whether nominating now would motivate previous stay at homes to the polls.
I don't know if it would be the kick in the rear needed but I know we will see 'Handmaiden Tales' ads alluding to Trump striking down Row v. Wade.

RE: Ginsburg Passes Away
The Democrats made their bed the last four years with their Russia hoax, their Impeachment sham and how they treated Kavanaugh was a travesty. We are tired of watching the Democrats work to destroy our Nation. They’ve sponsored and encouraged rioting and looting in the cities they control.
If Trump doesn’t get this done many of his supporters are going to be pissed.
If Hillary would have won the 2016 election the Democrats would be working overtime to get that seat filled before the election.
