Clemson and Alabama lose regular season games.

A second wave of the pandemic cancels sports starting in November and lasts throughout the winter.

College basketball is screwed if that happens.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly:

The Good is that a treatment to arrest the contagious nature of the virus will likely be forthcoming. Too many news agencies call this a vaccine. The nature of this virus can be arrested but there likely won't be a true vaccine, but rather a vaccine in combination with other drugs which contain rather than cure..

The Bad is that this pandemic will continue to reemerge because the virus is capable of it like the Herpes or HIV viruses are. So until the treatment is available that forces the virus to remain in hiding in the lining the brain which keeps it from being contagious we will continue to face the effects of its presence.

The Ugly is of course the political football it has all become by both sides. The virus is now a fact of life. We must learn to deal with it accordingly and get on with life with the nature of virus in mind. Perhaps the election de-politicizes the virus and reason can return.

It's SAD but the contrarian position is that this becomes less political and the response to it becomes more practical. Outside of the idiots in both parties the American people would have already naturally chosen this path. Toss in a wholly sensationalized news structure that uses fear to drive ratings and you can easily see why we haven't adapted, or innovated new strategies to minimize spread, or overcome the histrionics.

Now as to the Big 10 actually playing football in the Winter or Spring? This will be funny if it happens. Why? The ACC will crap a brick if their basketball has to go head to head with Big 10 football, and I'll buy popcorn to watch that hyperbolic grudge match go down! Perhaps it's wise that the SEC and Big 12 will attempt to play this fall, lest we fall under the ire of the NCAA's cash cow, and Chapel Hill's most beloved sport.

I'd like to know the Vegas odds on whether the Big 10 is permitted ultimately to play in the Winter and Spring or if the NCAA/ACC/Big East gets the take down in defense of their sacred cow revenue streams.

On the positive side, UVA retains bragging rights as defending NCAA champion a little longer 02-13-banana
