Apologies. UConn's athletic website didn't list it.

As I think about it, UConn is probably working to find two existing 2021 games to split so they can schedule each of the four scheduled participants in those games in the same manner they did with a number of 2020 games.

Even thou our schedule is full for 2022, think we will try to work something out for UConn. Perhaps we push out a game or we trade a game as USF to UConn and travel there 11/05. It's the only year we have 7 away games.

10/22 - at USF
10/29 - New Mexico State

Worst case, Yukon can schedule 2 FCS schools. Tough to make bowl eligibility but a bowl team is unlikely in 21 anyways.

Perfect fit. Opens up new TV markets, and they can be travel partners with the University of Northern British Columbia. 07-coffee3

FBS schools can play more than one FCS opponent, but they need 4 FBS home games + 1 FCS to meet their home scheduling requirement. Specifically, the NCAA rules require 5 home games vs. FBS opponents, but allow one of these to be an FCS opponent and one of these to be a neutral site game. They could have a 6th or even 7th home game against an FCS opponent, but they need to meet the core requirement first.

UConn has scheduled 4 home games vs. FBS opponents for 2022, but not yet for 2021. At this point, UConn has 1 FCS and 2 FBS home games, with 4 open dates still to fill. Again, I'm guessing that they are looking for schools willing to break existing game commitments to allow both cancelling teams to schedule UConn, as they did in building their 2020 schedule.

Yes, and the complexity of sorting out those kinds of deals would be ample explanation for why neither would have been announced yet. Indeed, they might be pursuing three or four, with the first two to get sorted out being the ones they go with.

I think XU has a club team. Maybe UConn could play them in a rare BE football matchup. If not, there's also a Xavier HS in Cincinnati that might give the Huskies a run for their money.

No way XHS agrees to play UConn, beating a college team doesn't help them qualify for the state championships.

At this point, if there is someone out there, they're giving up a home slot to make it happen in 2021 for a future season return. If this lingers on, can some of these other schools (like the ones with slots in CUSA) demand a 2-1?

"At this point" suggests that this is so late that "cracking up an existing contract into a Home at UConn and an away for UConn" is probably not on offer.

But that has it backward. Those are not easy contracts to sort out, they are likely to be the last ones to land, because one of the two games has to be on a different date, and which dates are open ... or can be opened up ... at this late date is a tricky thing, especially when you have to get two of them sorted out at one.

For instance, you have four you are working on. A works with B, C works with D, but the other combinations don't work. A and C are ready to go ahead. You won't be able to sign anything until you know whether B or D are going to go ahead.

I think it does come down to "cracking up an existing contract." UConn is probably going to have to wait some amount of time for a major school to either buy out one of its buy-games or to restructure its current arrangements to free up slots for itself and those likely opponents (which I think are your likely candidates for 1-1's for UConn...the G5 schools).

They benefited from this happening for the 2020 season, and they are going to be fine. However, there is a challenge up ahead for them. It may make for an interesting sell (or it may not), and that's all I mean.

hopefully the UConn AD has a few friends he can call to see if they’ve got someone on the schedule they want to ditch so that the Huskies can break into an existing deal.

I'd imagine the thread about Uconn's future schedules will continue to do so, as the AD schedules future games.
