FSU doesn't need a new coach...

...they just need a waterboy!

RE: How long will Taggart last??
The defense just did not need to be on the field 109 plays. FSU actually has a good waterboy, even Jimbo wanted to bring him to aTm

It only took Mark Stoops to transform the worst FSU defense ever in 2009 to respectable in 2010, then elite in 2011, 2012. If the defense does not find its groove by the end of the year then you really need to find a better coach.

I hadn't even thought about Strong. He looks like he's in big trouble at USF.

You could check how serious Bud Foster is about retiring.

Seems to me a program has reached a critical point if hiring somebody at that level because he is failing at the next level seems like a good idea. It wasn't long ago that guys who are winners would do anything to get to be a DC at FSU. Being available isn't much of a resume enhancer.

RE: How long will Taggart last??
As Mark Richt demonstrated countless times on the gridiron, it's not sufficient to just have better players even if that is across the board. To quote John Wooden, "A player who makes a team great is more valuable than a great player. Losing yourself in the group for the good the of the group ... that's team work." Those players are getting scarce these days with our drought of players and entitled culture. And if they have genuine NFL potential, they have several million dollars worth of reasons to act rationally in their self interest but against the interests of the team. Just look at the transfer portal. How many of those top flight players are still at FSU are still there and eligible? Now how many of those are there willing to play team ball?

Paradoxically while it's relatively easy to assemble a very good team, it's very difficult to fully stock it with sufficient depth and people willing to be role players and put their NFL career on hold. I think this is the difference between Clemson and Alabama and everybody else. With the exception of QB and some position groups that have experienced high turnover ... the next guy up at Clemson/Alabama is still at least pretty good and they're willing to only have a career the public sees for 1-2 years because they're under such an intense spotlight from dominating that it only takes a year or two to cash in your hardware rewards and NFL draft stock if you have the skill set.

I wouldn’t say that he has failed as a HC, he is 70-46 overall (4-4 bowls). He won 2 BE championships (2011 & 12) & was BE CoY in 2010 & 12. He is 17-9 at USF. Perhaps “bombed” is a bit harsh but he never garnered the fan support at Texas that he had at Louisville & he is in the midst of a losing streak currently at USF. He went 10-2 in his first year but has gone 7-7 since. I don’t know whats going on at USF but he does have a great defensive mind & has had success as a HC. Not to mention that Saban routinely hires former HCs to his staff. Even Steve Kragthorpe is on the LSU staff.

That doesn't make much sense to say. Was Alabama at a critical point for Nick Saban hiring Lane Kiffin as OC? Or now Sarkisian as OC who failed at USC and the Atlanta Falcons?

Urban Meyer's OC at Ohio State was Kevin Wilson, who was 26-47 as Indiana head coach. His DC was Greg Schiano, who was 11-21 with the Bucs.

FSU is probably at a critical point, but it wouldn't be because they had to "settle" for a former head coach at a coordinator position.

RE: How long will Taggart last??
Taggart is in year 2 at FSU. Year 2 at USF was when it all came together for him. I remember year 2 vividly. It was game 3 or 4 for USF and SU was playing USF in Tampa. Syracuse was favored to win the game. I was sure that SU would win the game after seeing USF get hammered pretty bad in its first 2 or 3 games. In the middle of the game with SU, I saw the Bulls suddenly, get it. The Bulls ran SU off the field, and I believe they went undefeated the rest of the season until they lost to UCF when UCF went undefeated for the season.

It simply takes some time for a coach to instill his system. The previous coach left Taggart with a lot of issues to overcome. I would be shocked if Taggart didnt get another year after this one.

Those programs weren't in a tailspin, with fans wondering whether the HC would be fired before the end of the season. FSU is.

FSU is 0-1, not 0-7. No need to press the red button just yet. She’ll give birth to a beautiful boy and it will be wonderful.

FSU with their lowest home attendance in 31 years for a non-hurricane game and the Noles have treated those fans to extra football! Headed to OT with La-Monroe after another massive 1st half lead blown.

The heart appears to be missing from FSU. Even when they went downhill under Bowden's last years, they looked better.
